I plan on taking my mac in for servicing soon...i know they will erase everything. My question is can I back up the computer exactly as it isnow...settings...icons still in same place...evrything the same and a I have to do is sync? Kinda like a restore? Second question what's the cheapest I canget a new LCD for 13 inch black MacBook?

just back up using time machine. They probably wont wipe it, but just in case, when you get it back and start up time machine again, you can restore yoursettings exactly how they were on the las backup you made

Chances are, unless they have to replace the HD, you won't lose everything. Why do you need to buy a new LCD for your Macbook? If it's still underwarranty or Apple Care, and it doesn't have noticeable water damage or looks like it was dropped, just tell them it stopped working and you need a new one.As long as you avoid saying those things and they can't tell from looking at it, you should be able to get it fixed for free.

if your bringing it to an apple store for repair your screen your looking to spend ATLEAST $600, some have said to be quoted up to $1000 depending if they needto also replace the housing... you can find places online to do it for about $500, some recommend on macrumors forum (not me since i have never used them)http://www.myservice.com/ also you can use superduper or carbon copy cloner to make an image of your HDD
