Mac users--can anyone help

I accidentally removed my download stack from the dock. I was able to find it in finder and drag it back onto my dock, but now when I d/l new things, thenew downloads won't appear in the d/l stack. I really liked that you can find recent downloads easily in the stack. I've googled everywhere but Ican't find the answer. NT don't fail me now lol.

once you got it back on your dock

right click it. pick fan and then pick most recently downloaded.
