Macbook....Really worth it???

Received a 15" MacBook Pro 2 weeks ago as a present and I've been loving it since (lifelong Windows user btw)

The cost is defintely higher than the sum of the hardware components. You'll be able to find similarly or better spec'd machines out there for wayless; but everything is just so much more intuitive and user-friendly on a Mac. I don't think I'll be going back.

just remember that you're not paying for specs but rather the software. to me, osx>windows. period. if you don't care about which operating system you're working with, just cop a PC and save some cash. if you like osx and prefer it over windows or you just don't like windows, go w/ the mac.

blah!
What do you not like about windows though?
what don't i like? well i don't mind XP, but vista is just a nightmare to me. the vulnerability of PCs is definitely a turnoff. i'mnot gonna say macs can't get viruses but it's definitely a rarity compared to PCs. the mac software is just too easy to use and runs smoothly at that.i have XP installed via bootcamp and even that lags on my mac but my osx runs flawlessly. just a few observations i've made.

blah!

I bought a black macbook in November. And I love it! Still no problems with it.

That's false. A Mac will become slow when all of it's memory is taken up, just like any PC.

And there was a pretty big virus that exposed how weak the security on a Mac is.

The only reason why there aren't that many viruses for Macs is because no valuable data is kept on them. Credit card companies, the gov't, etc, useWindows/Unix based servers.

No hate on Macs, though. I'm going to be getting one for the upcoming school year. I'll personally be running both OSX and Windows on my system, so ifyou still want windows, I suggest that you do that.

i have a first gen macbook, after upgrading from a g4 powerbook 12inch. you cannot go wrong.

especially with the new aluminum casing. its so sexy. do it, and itll last forever. I'm not even considering upgrading mine yet, still runs good as new.

You do make alot of valid points but your still a PC owner, I use to think Mac laptops were all hype, but if you own a HP laptop like me, you realize how muchbetter life was when I switch to Mac. Once you give a mac a try you'll see how great it is!!!! ALL people that love there macbooks can't be wrong.

FYI all mac owners Craigslist is the best for programs!!!

im going to try to buy one next month..
if I dont spend all my cash on kicks
:/

Mac is great, and you won't run into the problems PC users usually have

I've had Ebony (my black macbook) for 2 years and its great even with all my music, movies, and docs

THE only thing PC does better is hardware....

I gripped it really hard and her screen cracked (still tryna find a cheap way to fix it)

If i get the new macbook unibody with the un-removeable battery..what do I do when I'm just chillen at home..?

I don't want to waste cycles if I don't actually need the battery in.... anybody got one of these can tell me how this works??

On the military base round my way we have the old one (the one without the sd card slot or the backlit keyboard) for about 999..

Should I wait and save up so more money for the new one (which is about 300 dollars more) or just keep it simple ?

Any suggestions ?

The 13 inch MacBook Pro at the Apple store cost 1100 plus tax but you get a free ipod and 100 dollars off a printer.

Yeah, they do. The sales person will even sit down with you to do the rebate on the iPod touch & printer.

As far as I'm concerned, the only remaining reason to buy PCs is for playing computer games.

macbooks are great

macintosh are garbage, if its a home computer it has to be a PC
