There's a cynical old saying that "no good deed goes unpunished." That adage has proved true for an elderly Illinois man who accidentally gave away his entire life savings when making a clothing donation to his local Goodwill.

The 80-year-old man, who didn't trust banks, had kept his life savings of $13,000 sewn inside the lining of one of his suits. He is currently appealing for the money's return so that he can care for his wife, who has Stage 4 cancer.

You ain't copy and paste the article or video, so I'm gonna assume there is nothing to discuss.

smh... Thats why you should always check clothes for money or valuable stuff before donating.. I check my clothes before washing, dont want my GF making a "come up" when getting my clothes out of the washer/dryer lol

"The man's daughter, who says he is remaining anonymous because he is "devastated and embarrassed" by the story, is offering a $1,000 reward for the suit's new owner to return the cash."

So they want the person to give up $13,000 for a $1,000 award??... HAAAAA that wont happen!!!

seems to be in the context of "maybe he had it coming to him", and maybe he did.either way i hope his wife pulls through, but

i would assume shes an octogenarian as well so...

As dumb as he may be for not trusting a bank, I hope he gets his $ back considering the circumstances.

Stage 4 cancer, ugh. Unfortunately that $ is as good as gone. In this country people rarely return things, let alone money. Person will see $13,000-$12,000=his reward and that's not enough.

How do you not know you're giving away 13,000 dollars? I'm always checking for a dollar or two in my pockets , even change.

Should have just said he needed the coat back b/c it had "sentimental value" without disclosing that it had that pecuniary lining

damn i am dissapoint...

i was hoping that this would be a feel good story about a guy who intentionally put the money there without telling... story almost made my day.

btw: i am trying to set up a shoe drive with a website im working on. when i get deeper into the plan, ill let the nt fam know. every single item/dollar in this idea will be donated. just tryna help the community.

i already put aside a bunch of kicks i dont really rock and plan on passin them out to homeless dudes around the city. might throw in some jackets if i can find some too.

NTers in houston are more than welcome to join in. [Warned for profanity.]

no lie: my ex found the sex tape i made with another ex. i hid it in some pants i was going to donate to good will, but forgot i left the tape in the pants. moral of the story, check your pockets.
