Bronx, Harlem and Brooklyn streets are stained with blood.

Its the same (and worse) all over this Nation. Seeing lost lives visually represented like that is a stark reminder of the work that needs to be done in ourinner cities.

NYC Homicide Map 2003 -2009

I was able to identify 2 of my homeboys.

R.I.P. to Pop and JJ

Y'all suburban dudes glorifying Gangs and stickup kids need to take the time out and observe that map.

It's not gonna register with a lot of them because it's not happening where they live at.

chicagos also got a record amount of shooting this year... one of my homeboys got shot while he was with his daughter, this has got to stop...

Dudes need to stop seriously, got held up at a pick up game last week, for a basketball they were ready to kill, I had to be a punk that day.

Damn BK
I didn't know it was that bad.
No wonder they got East New York looking like Compton with all them helicopters.

My uncle got shot in the chest like that b4 in a similar incident.
The bullet missed his heart by a small margin and he's alive and well today.
That's an L you gotta take son, better your pride than ya life.

Damn, I can't even find any homicides that have happened in my area this year.

The last one (that I can find) happened in 2003.

Not excited to see the numbers St. Louis will do this year.

my city steady mobbin.

Two people killed on my block (exact cross streets) and I didn't even know until I checked that map.

If elected officials really cared, these numbers could be cut in half within a year.

But only a handful truly care, the vast majority just care about maintaining the status quo...and getting their cut in the process.

so i guess it's true when they say not to wander north of 110th...yikes.

Real talk why should the officials care? It doesn't put money in their pockets or get them elected. As long as it doesn't happen in middle to upperincome communities this will continue to be a non-issue. (to them)

What really irks me about this is we cannot do ANYTHING to change this. Im not saying I don't care because I do, Im saying that the people who have thepower to change this don't want to.

And just to think, the yearly numbers were almost 5 times as high in the 90's.

In 1990 NYC had 2,245 homicides for the year.

And there are steps that we can take to curb this problem. It just takes courage, patience and unity.

Thas just rediculous!

That has to be the All-Time high for a U.S. City. How did anyone survive pass that year?

It's just sad really. The truth is that that's what it is like in hoods all over
