Story is I arrive in Binghamton NY today for a 3 week business trip. I check into a Marriott and see this problem with the fridge, outlet and light switch.

The refrigerator is plugged into this outlet which is only turned on when the light switch is on.

This shouldn't be a problem but, the light switch also controls this bright freaking florescent lamp.

So I am torn between cold beer or good night sleep.


I will manage the situation some how but this is rather odd.

the bottom outlet might not be controlled by the switch, that's how my room is set up

 ...the hell kind of jimmy rig is that?  next you gonna find out that if you watch t.v., the heater won't work at the same time.

Both outlets were the same.


I'm just gonna unplug a lamp on the other side of the room.

Why don't you just ask for another room?

I hate to sound patronizing but, you sure there isn't another switch that controls the light? i'm sure that's
the circuit switch.
