Another good thing about working with and shadowing physicians is they may be a source for a great recommendation when it comes time to apply.

UTVOL and boilermaker pretty much summed it up. it really isnt about what you do, but how dedicated you are to the things you are involved in. 1 weekend community service projects here and there don't mean as much as being involved in one long term project over the course of your undergraduate career. being a board member in 2 clubs means much more than being a general member of 10.
