Methodman.... Niketalk breaks Opera (pics inside)

It didn't used to happen until recently (i'd say past 2 weeks?). The site just seems to keep loading, even though it's done loading everything.I'll be in another tab or program or something then look at my ram usage and be like

.... I know Opera is supposed to consume the least resources outof all the browsers so I go on the NT tab and look what I find:

On the first screenshot,scroll to the right if your screen isn't big enough... the number on the right just keeps increasing as the left one does... so it"never" gets done loading. It happens every time... one time when I wasn't paying attention it took 700 mb! Has to be stopped man...

Are you aware of this yet? Or is this the first time you're hearing about this?

you might want to run spybot + ad-aware, spyware/adware can often use up a lot of resources when you're connected to the internet.

Not to mention the fact that it ONLY happens on NT.

This is the first I've heard of it. I'll forward a link to this thread to Yuku's lead developer. If anyone else is encountering similar issues,please report them here.

In the meantime, you're probably better off loading the site through FireFox. That seems to have the best compatibility with Yuku from my experience. Yukuis, still, a beta product and as such we all need to be patient as the platform continues to grow and improve.


For those still wishing for a return to ezboard, try to think of this in the long term. Ezboard stopped evolving years ago. The investment we're making, asa community, in Yuku now will ultimately result in the best available forums and services for NikeTalk. I'd rather encounter bumps on the road than park ata dead end.

I have 3 tabs open; which are all NT and the mem. usage is only at 73k

It happens with me too when I use Firefox and Safari, I never really paid it much attention because I didn't think it kept using RAM and plus I switch thepage pretty often so I dunno...but after seeing that

opening other sites with about 4-7 tabs, i had 137k!

It's unlikely. It wouldn't make much sense to open up an unmoderated 24 hour live chat room given NikeTalk's aims.

We used to have weekly live chats during the first couple of years, which were fairly successful, but we just didn't have time for it as both the board andour lives became increasingly complex and demanding. If you have a scheduled live chat for a forum of this size, you could easily have in excess of 100 peoplein the room - and that's just not conducive to fluid conversation. The forum setup works best given our size.

I noticed sometimes NT fails to load completely for me too (in Safari).

I looked in my activity window and something to do with the ads keeps on loading and loading more items, it doesn't stop.

I let it go for a bit and it got up 500 items or so. When it happened again it got to 780 something before I stopped it.
Same here. FIrefox is my default browser and it works fine with Yuku, but at times I work with Safari and have noticed bugs/incomplete pageloads.
