I work in a bookstore and for the last two years I've been seeing books in this series fly off the shelf but I didn't really pay attention. Well the last book came out recently and it's just crazy how many people are getting into this series. So, I hopped on the bandwagon, and all I can say is damn I wish I got on it earlier. I haven't stayed up through the night to finish a book in a long time, but for all three of these I was up until about 6am...with work in the morning mind you, to finish these book. The writing is a bit ehh at times but the overall storyline is masterful. An what's most surprising is that these books are Swedish, I was shocked that they had such a huge following over here in the U.S. It's a shame that the author, Stieg Larsson, died before he could complete the rest of the books. The series was originally suppose to be 10 titles, but what he left us with is a great trilogy.
The genre is crime fiction and the main protagonist is a female character named Lisbeth Salander and that's really all I can say about it for fear of giving away to much. If you're looking for a new series to begin, I highly recommend these.
