Apparently it's being said on Reddit that Bruce was going to beat up Marquette at some point last season over his nonsense. Either way I'm not trying to get too attached to this season, I don't think we're going to be where Chuckie wants us to be until the following season.

King was annoying for that pic with Talib but Marshawn escorted him thru our sidelines so :rolleyes

He's just a punter and he cost $3 million so it's not that big of a deal to me.

They should draft Dickson from Texas with a 5th/6th round pick if he's available.

Marshawn is Marshawn and ol boy is his real life fami think?...i haaaaated that **** with a passion..but i understood. King was just a clown for clowns sake. He was my favorite raider for a bit and I think our only probowler besides Marcel but im not the least bit mad about this move.

Of all the offseason moves (Jano, King, Crab), the only one that does upset me is Cordarelle Patterson. Dude was solid as a WR3/4 and also in the kick game :{

I was listening to the AM show a couple months ago and they were talking about the Raiders never support the show. They switched to primarily Niner talk and their ratings have never been better.

there was just too much tomfoolery with marquette. he lost the respek of his peers with his nonsense.
marshawn has the respect of the locker room, so a lot of his antics can be tolerated

Raiders' relationship with 95.7 The Game? It's still complicated …

Remember when I wrote back in December that the Raiders were none too pleased with the discussion topics on 95.7 The Game, the station that broadcasts Raiders games locally? If you're a new subscriber, probably not (and welcome to The Athletic!). Well, it's several months later and the situation hasn't gotten any better. If anything, both sides have become more entrenched.

Need proof? How about Jon Gruden going on with Tom Tolbert and John Lund, something he hasn't done with a 95.7 host since going on with Raiders play-by-play announcer Greg Papa the day of his introductory press conference. Sure, Gruden is friendly with Tolbert, who along with Lund gets better ratings than their FM competitor, but KNBR hasn't had any sort of relationship with the Raiders since KTCT “The Ticket” broadcasted Raiders games — back in the days before the phrase “KNBR 1050” even existed.

Then, about a month later, Jordy Nelson went on with Tolbert and Lundalmost immediately after signing with Oakland.

See a pattern?

For anyone who doesn't, Joe Fortenbaugh — part of The Game's morning show, which for an entire segment last season tackled the topic of how difficult it can be to get their preferred Raiders guests on the air — effectively spelled it out for us in a response to a tweet from The Athletic'sRaiders beat writer, Vic Tafur.

In traffic earlier and had the #Raiders radio station on. Hourly news break: Update on Draymond Green’s package, then audio from new 49ers guard. No mention of Decker or Suh visits. That’s brutal, @957thegame

In light of all of this, I reached out to the Raiders. They “respectfully” declined to comment, but their silence spoke volumes. As far as partnerships go, the one between 95.7 and the Raiders is pretty icy.

Whose fault is this?

In the wonderful world of hot-takery known as the sports media landscape, it seems like you always have to pick a side. A superstar is either a tough winner, or a soft loser. Teams are either great, or they're evil. And I've been known to travel in these types of extremes with this column, particularly when listing the best or worst shows of all-time.

But when it comes to 95.7 The Game and the Silver and Black, the relationship is anything but black and white.

It might help to start at the beginning, when the Entercom station stopped playing country music and started on its difficult, never-ending mission to unseat KNBR as the region's top source for sports content on terrestrial radio. It seemed logical for The Game to tap into a market KNBR had been mostly ignoring for years. Namely, fans of the Raiders and A's.

When Entercom reached agreements with both teams to broadcast their respective games, it appeared as if 95.7 had chosen sides with whom to ride or die, and that side was the East Bay. Just one problem: from a numbers standpoint (ratings and $), this was always a losing proposition, due to the A's “little brother” status compared with the Giants and the Raiders' pre- and post-2016 ineptitude.

Then Mark Davis gleefully reached an agreement with the city of Las Vegas to build a new home for his team, which led to then-program director Don Kollins passing along a memo ordering station employees to play nice with the Raiders, their principal owner, and even Oakland mayor Libby Schaaf. Kollins' only major hire, Raiders employee J.T. the Brick, was brought on board not just to replace John Middlekauff (now a contributor for The Athletic who hosted a show with Guy Haberman and clashed with Kollins), but to smooth what was sure to be a rough post-Vegas announcement transition. It didn't exactly work, and things only soured further once the Brick left The Game.

Kollins issued the aforementioned memo last March. He was fired in August, and the Raiders would lose 10 of their final 14 games to finish 6-10, the same record as the 49ers. However, the 49ers' 6-10 felt like 13-3, while the Raiders went from Super Bowl contenders in the preseason to irrelevant in December (which, not coincidentally, was when they started getting sick of hearing 95.7 hosts talk about Jimmy Garoppolo).

So the Raiders are upset with 95.7 The Game for talking so much about the Bay Area's NFC team, which is understandable. But The Game is also in a difficult spot, as an underdog radio station which saw tangible evidence that focusing on the 49ers over the Raiders (and, to an extent, the Giants over the A's) leads to improved listenership.

Meanwhile, Raider Nation is upset with The Game for breaking a supposed promise to provide a home for a marginalized fan base — although some of that might be misplaced anger with their team for skipping town (or at least planning to leave) for the second time in a few decades.

Maybe that's why Fortenbaugh, who kept replying to feisty Raiders fans throughout the evening after responding to Tafur, finally cracked on Twitter. Oakland-centric fans have stopped complaining as much about KNBR's treatment of the teams that play in the Coliseum, because they're busy peppering 95.7 The Game personalities with their grievances on social media. If I were a talk show host, whose livelihood was dependent on ratings, in a market in which any degree of 49ers success (or failure, for that matter) moved the needle more than even a 12-4 Raiders season, I'd get sick of the constant griping, too.

Fortenbaugh also declined to comment on this particular topic, which was no surprise. Sometimes one can be a little too honest on Twitter, especially if the Raiders approached Fortenbaugh's superiors with their misgivings.

But unlike the A's, who are under contract through 2018, the Raiders and 95.7 are married for the next two seasons.

The A's and 95.7 seem to have some perspective on their relationship, however. The Oakland baseball club doesn't pull ratings, but The Game enjoys the business partnerships with companies that like being aligned with the A's. And the A's seem to understand that if they put some extra effort into attracting fans and finding a new home that keeps them “rooted in Oakland,” everyone will benefit … eventually.

The Raiders were able to get some promises in their last deal they made with Kollins, apparently not the toughest of negotiators, that they'd be treated gently on the air. While few would accuse The Game of outright Raider bashing, the rift between both sides may not heal soon unless the Raiders start fast in September. Or, an exclusivity agreement is reached in which the Raiders coach only goes on with Damon Bruce or Greg Papa. But even in that case, if the Raiders start slow and Garoppolo keeps his personal winning streak going, the Fightin' Grudens and the Nation might need to tune into J.T. the Brick to hear Raiders' chatter.

Wish we woulda dropped king earlier and scooped up Sherm with that $3Milly we just saved :smh:
