How bout you stop making Obama threads every day and to your guilty white people vote comment to quote myself "ANGELINA JOLIE TYPE DUDE STOP BEING SOSALTY."

And to go back to an argument I haven't used since last September where were all the guilty white people voting for Jesse Jackson to make him president?

I honestly thought this would be the time that NT Republicans would own up to the separatist ways of their party.

Let's ignore race, how about the fact that John McCain ran one of the the most DIVISIVE presidential campaigns ever

To call certain states the "REAL AMERICA"? Dude, who the hell are you to tell people we aren't the real America?

And then McCain fails so then they say let's make a black man chair of the RNC to soften our image......

This isn't about image softening. It about the fact that this party is very divisive, racist, and unapologetic to say the least

I want people think about the freedom they actually have in this country.

We have plenty of personal freedom. Freedom to eat the foods we want, drink what we want, buy the type of cars we want, marry who we want, buy what we want, etc.

How about civic freedom? What power do we really have in government? Sure we can decide who becomes President but once that's decided the corporationsand president's inner circle have most of the pull-- it's battling Big Money and we're losing because a lot of people vote on perception ("Ithink I like his "vision" for this country so I'm voting for him?").

Just something to think about. I vote in local, state and presidential elections btw and won't cast a vote for any RepubliCrat.

If you think the Democratic party is any different then you've been fooled.

ummm educate yourself once in a while ... to say certain states are the "real" america is simply pointing out that this country was not founded onthe principles of most of these liberal states ... im not getting into specifics if you want to know read something of value once in your life ...

to say the republican party, and not the democratic party, is divisive is idiotic ... obama was chosen as the democratic nominee because he had the best chanceto win ... michael steele was chosen to try and win votes ... both parties try to win the elections and rarely deliver on what they run on ...

people in here acting like democrats are these holier than thou people and couldnt possibly be racist and couldnt possibly do wrong ... %#*+ is disgusting ...both parties are after one thing, POWER ... no one gives a %#*+ about the middle class or the regular people of the world ... the only sad part is everyonesblind to that fact right now ... look no further than obamas appointments in his cabinet to see the true story ...

and *+!% outta here with that regurgitated liberal media ***%*!%@ up there ... divisive and racist and unapologetic lol ... every white democrat isnt racistand every black democrat likes white people ... ... ... ... ... ... ... stop being controlled by the powers that be ... make some damn conclusions for yourself...

Read the whole thing but the first block is the dumbest thing I've ever read. Liberalism is not real American.. So every troop who is liberal is notAmerican? Lincoln was not American (A moderate Republican, meaning he was liberal and conservative )? Kennedy was not American? MLK was not American? Get outof here with the divisive comment when you went a million times more divisive.. and too bad this country was founded on both liberal and conservative ideas. And you wonder why people hate conservatives and republicans when these are the idiotic comments they believe.

And btw NY

Really? I'm not saying the Democratic Party doesn't have faults. However when is the last time you saw a Democrat have someone draw aracist picture mocking the white house easter egg hunt, or a picture such as the one above? And then giving half @ssed apologies to back it up? You cannottell me that the Democrat party is just as racist, offensive, divisive, and as unapologetic as the Republican party.

I don't know of many people who are supposed to be Democrat and have switched to the Republican party
Hoever I have seen and actually know many Republicans who have swutched to the Democratic Party.....

lol

If people really believe that on the whole white democrats are any less racist then white republicans than you really don't know white democrats.
The amount of racist/prejudiced people within both parties is relatively low (no, I don't believe that the majority of Republicans are prejudiced perDemocrat propaganda) but on average I wouldn't say the Republicans have more of 'em.

They just practice different forms of prejudice (if that makes sense) where those republicans that are racist/prejudiced are simply easier to spot.

Guilty white people voting for Obama even though they had nothing to do with slavery seeing that occurred a long time ago
The false innocence astounds. White people today benefit from white privilege today. It's not ancient history. Schools are more segregatedtoday than they were 50 years ago. Earnings and achievement gaps persist. Just look at the racial disparities in subprime lending ALONE for crying out loudand tell me that won't affect both current as well as future generations.
PS: These threads are getting OLD seeing that we ALL know there is PLENTY of racism out there & that it has escalated since the election.... or come to the forefront.

Did you ever stop to think for one moment that it might be slightly more of a burden to actually be subjected to racism as part of your daily lifethan to simply have to skip past threads about it on a message board?

If people really believe that on the whole white democrats are any less racist then white republicans than you really don't know white democrats.
There was plenty of racism present in the Democratic primaries, particularly from the Clinton and Edwards campaigns.

Our society is racist; it's not isolated to mainstream political party affiliation.

That said, the McCain campaign took it to another level and used it as a wedge issue. We all saw the footage of the rallies they held late in the process -which were SO hateful even McCain had to intercede, lest the audience begin igniting crosses. It's only smoldered in the months since, part of thepreferred scare tactics that attempt to portray America as under siege by "outsiders," suggesting that the "natural order," and"American values" are slipping away. It's like speaking in pig latin. Their "code" isn't fooling anyone.

The political commentator who referred to Michelle Obama as a "gorilla" on his facebook page is hardly an isolated incident. Anyone unfortunateenough to be subjected to Fox News on inauguration night (it was on at the gym, sadly) was treated to commentators similarly denigrating the first lady whileshe danced with her husband.

This incident should come as absolutely no surprise to anyone. While the email itself is offensive, what's far MORE offensive, and damaging, are thepolicies like racial profiling etc. that bolster institutionalized racism.

I'd rather have someone tell me they hate me because I'm white than have them smile at me all day and spit in my food when I'm notlooking. At least you know where they stand.

Since I started college last fall, people no longer surprise me. It's a shame that ignorance is so prevalent though.

I find it odd that people are so adamant to merely brush incidents like these to the side... yet when our Attorney General Holder referred to the US as anation of cowards when it comes to dealing with issues of race, everyone hit the fan.

We know racism is still a prevalent issue in our society... yet no one wants to tackle it. We just get upset whenthings like this happen... then forget about it a few days later.

Wake up people.

Wow. smh

On another note, I spoke to a real smart man at work today...

Ive never really spoken to a jew before but this guy graduated from UCLA and had it hard growing up, he even went to the same high school I went to.

He was near 60 and we spoke about the war, immigration, the laws and his religion and how we both dont believe in abortion (in a few casses acceptable, rapeetc)

Fair point.

But I think a lot of the thinking behind it is- "what's the point?" Are we gonna talk white supremacists or Nation of Islam members out of theirways? Doubtful.

And it's not like race is an untouched subject. I've never seen another country where race was so often talked about- in schools, in the workplace, etc. What kind of discussion are we supposed to have? A huge national forum? I don't really understand the point he was trying to make, aside from thefact that racism is bad and it's still around and it will do no good ignoring it. Which are all things we know already.

Seems like the best we can do is ensure that racism has as little impact as possible on society, by making sure all laws and practices are fair to everyone.

People underestimate the power of the spoken word. Granted, we can't hold a gun to the heads of such people who condone such hatred, but asking"what's the point" only lends itself to the persistence of such racist behavior in our society.

I don't have the cure to racism, but I'll never shoot down a potential solution, no matter how insignificant the impact may be.

To not raise a brow and accept these things as trivial, makes them acceptable in society.
