From Wiki...

[h2]Sequel[/h2]
Production on a second sequel, titled Mortal Kombat: Devastation, was initially scheduled to commence shortly after the release of Annihilation, but it was shelved due to Annihilation's poor box-office performance. It consequently has remained stagnant in preproduction for over a decade, including being mired in development hell for a number of years with numerous script rewrites and story changes, along with the destruction of New Orleans by Hurricane Katrina, which greatly affected one of the shooting locations.[sup][10][/sup] In June 2009, a bankruptcy court lawsuit saw Lawrence Kasanoff suing Midway, mentioning that a third film was in the works. Warner Bros. (which became the parent of New Line in 2008, after over a decade of both operating as separate divisions of Time Warner) ended up purchasing most of Midway's assets, including Mortal Kombat, the next month.[sup][11][/sup]

Actor Chris Casamassa reported in July 2009 that he was reprising his role as Scorpion and claimed that filming would begin in September of the same year,[sup][12][/sup] while Linden Ashby (Johnny Cage in the first film) said on Soap Talk that he read the script and planned on returning to the role.[sup][13][/sup] However, the film still has yet to officially go into production, and no information about the project exists on the official MK website produced by Threshold Entertainment, which has not been updated since 2004.[sup][14][/sup]Bloody Disgusting reported in January 2010 that Warner Bros. had hired Oren Uziel to write a new script of the reboot.[sup][15][/sup] Paul W.S. Anderson, who had directed the original, expressed interest in returning to the franchise in a May 4 interview with G4, though he is not currently under consideration to do so.[sup][16][/sup]

On Chud.com, there was a possible trailer has appeared on the internet could be the reboot movie or a tie in for the next Mortal Kombat game, it shows Michael Jai White as Jax, Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade and Ian Anthony Dale as Scorpion. It also featuted Reptile, Shang Tsung, Johnny Cage and Baraka. [sup][17][/sup]

hopefully the new trailer is for a movie since this old trailer is nowhere near the quality of the other...

i think all the media executives and companies are finally starting to realize that the trash they are putting out now for kids is never going to sell. the 1990's was the best era to grow up in, and had the best tv shows, video games, and was a cash cow for so many companies. im 23 now, and still can remember power rangers, ninja turtles and mortal kombat being such a fun part of growing up.

hopefully this will materialize into something.

Speaking of Spawn, he deserves a better movie than that garbage that released way back when. That story with the right actors/director and proper funding could be great.
