Not trying to sound elitist but alot of people let DOOM go over their heads. It's not just some stream of consciousness babble raps. If you take time tolisten, have an understanding of hip-hop, history, old/new pop-culture and the old skool it all makes sense

Mighty Mos is that dude

truth. i've given up on trying to explain this to people, that you can't just get Doom's references right away, takes multiple listens.

I always thought DOOM was a genius, but now my opinion has upgraded credibility.

He said De la is on some steely dan organized arrangement +@*. Lol.

I was never a Doom fan, but I'm willing to give him another listen now.

DOOM is a fool. Elitist or not, he is on a whole other level when it comes to rhyme scheme and lyrics.
I understand why so many folks are put off by Doom ...the mask, the flow, the obscure references, but as a lyricist, the man has perfected the craft.
Every time you listen to a doom track, you find something new to

And I'm glad Mos appreciates Rapp Snitches...that track is

Damn I know Mos wants to write with DOOM now, after hearing that question. That would be an amazing song.
I'd put up a mil on DOOM against almost any rapper these days. Especially Wayne. If I had the money, that is.

lemme get a hit of whatever you smokin dog.

hip hop? old school?

you mean like eric b. and rakim? mc shan?

according to your statement, doom knows nothin of hip hop.

cause i sure as hell didnt have to read a book to listen to microphone fiend.
plus everyone danced to it.
plus he had on a gucci suit and a gold rope big enough to pull a gold boat.

why do i have to watch CNN to listen to a song?

get outta here. doom is about as wack as aesop rock and everyone else in their genre. which is pretty wack.

Wack is a term used too loosely. If you don't like it then it isn't for you, but don't just go around bashing someone who has a fan base

He doesn't get it.

Everytime I type in doom on youtube just to peep a listen it is guaranteed I will listen to a track Ive heard before a few times before I switch it up

Only thing I liked from DOOM was The Mouse and the Mask. Maybe because I was a huge Adult Swim fan at the time.

The rest of his albums did nothing for me. I'll check his other stuff again, though. His flow is different, but it's kinda dope.

What I was trying to say is that to comprehend what he is saying you need to understand the hip hop lingo, a lot of it old skool.

You don't have to watch CNN to see what he is saying you just have to have some frame of reference. In life you can learn something new everyday if you areopen to that idea. Some lines I thought I understood I later found out I was just enjoying superficially and you can appreciate the double meanings after yougain some new knowledge. I don't sit there with an Encyclopedia, tuned to Cartoon Network just to understand his lyrics, you just let it happen over timewith multiple listens. Jay-Z does the double entendre's but most people like his music for the superficial "hustler" raps that they get out ofit. If you just listen to DOOM superficially you walk away thinking it is gibberish over cartoon show intsrumentals. One is "cool" the other is"corny" but in the end both cleverly give you the option to dig deeper.

Many people are anemic to broadening their horizons and that lack of curiousity is what bars them from some good food for thought. I'm not gonna say he isthe definition of hip-hop, but you can't deny dude can spit!

i love doom

that Beef Rapp line on chippendales and button ups had me
