So this post wouldn't even see the light of day if I wasn't 4 glasses of wine and 3 shots deep on my 2 year anniversary.

Anyways, I've come to terms that your boy needs to lose a couple lbs.  I've always been the athletic type, D1 athlete in college, etc, but I'm getting up there in age, 27, and I'm finding it harder and harder to stay in shape.  Quite frankly, your boy is gettin' fluffy and I'm at the point where I need to start gettin' it in at the gym again and get back to my natural physique.

Right now I'm like 215 at 5'10".  A good amount is muscle, especially in my chest, arms, and shoulders but the midsection is Oliver Miller lite.  Neck lookin' like a mocha Urlacher.  I really need that motivation to get to the gym and put that work in but it's extremely hard to get motivated because I live in CT (Greenwich, home of "The Decision") and work in NYC so by the time I get home it's 7:45.  By the time I get home I'm tired as hell and that 10 minute drive to the gym sucks.  Thing is, my membership is $30 a month and anybody in the NYC area knows that's a got' damn deal and a half for the gyms out here.  My girl will BBM me at work tommbout "You goin' to the gym tonight? ..I'll wait for you to get home..."  Pure guilt trip
ohwell.gif
What sucks the most is that I did 6 months last year and your boy came out lookin' like Dahntay Jones and she wasn't up to snuff and I had her doin' boot camp work outs.  Now?  Tables done turned and I'm feelin' like I owe it to her to get back in shape.

Call it a drunken vent, call it chuckle material for folks.  No shame in the game, I just want that motivation, that push, some kind of words of wisdom from my NT brethren to put the drank and McRibs down and get focused.

/vent.

First you have to workout for you, not your girl. You gotta want it homie.

Here's a little motivation and probably the truth. While your sitting there looking like a fatty, your girl is probably looking at all the fit dudes and undressing them with her eyes. So unless you want a young, fit, athletic dude like myself to come in and swoop up your girl, you better get in that gym and bust your butt.

Motivation is to get back in college shape now becaue it gets tougher when you get closer to 30. I'm 29, I know!

Cple suggestions:
- consider joining a gym close to work. So u can hit that up before u even go home

- If u do mass transit, get off a cple stops before your home stop and run home.

Nah, G.  I'm just an educated black man who made the best of his situation and turned it into an above average lifestyle

Unfortunately, that'll never be the case

Chick got tunnel vision like a mutha and that's even some naive @!%%.  Only dude I know she got eyes for is Rondo and I'll fold him with the Quicksilver.  I seriously wish this was the case cause I'd use it to my advantage but at the end of the day she's yearnin' for it.  If she suddenly went cold turkey for the boing I'd be worried and make something happen.

Trust me, I know this but my mentality is, "oh I'll get focused next week, next month, etc, I got time, it won't take me more than 2 months" and I end up putting @!%% off.

Gunna, this is kinda where my head is at right now.  I'm about to switch from the Edge to NYSC, which is right up the street from me.  It's more expensive ($80 a month) but it's really not about to put a dent in my wallet plus they have pay per month, instead of annual membership.  And the mass transit idea is a good idea except the stop before me is Port Chester and that @!%% is like 4 miles to my spot and pure back roads.  I'm guaranteed to get lost.

I think once January rolls around I'ma just sign up for NYSC.  It allows me to use the ones in NYC and Greenwich.

You don't wanna flip flop like that so when you do decide to change make sure it's for the rest of your life. I been eantin healthier and riding a statinary bike when I drop down to 210 I'll start joggin again sucks to start over

stare at yourself in the mirror, and if you dont like what you see, then start going. or you can buy some workout clothes, and put the money to good use by actually using them.

You can start off with doing some jogs around the neighborhood, and plan different trails or what not. This solves the "I don't feel like driving anywhere" problem.

I think one of the best things to get people motivated is to have someone else who wants what you want so y'all can push each other.

I'm kind of in the same boat in terms of getting back in shape and right now one of my boys is going hard in the gym cause he's trying to walk-on next year for our bball team so it always pushes me when i'm in there with him.

Check it.  Played freshman year at Duke at 170 then quit after my freshman year.  Over the next 3 years ballooned to 210.  Got my MBA at UConn, had a year of eligibility left for soccer so played in 2006.  Dropped down to 180.  After the season was done jumped back up to 210-215 for the next two years.  Did a bid in 2009 for 6 months...came out at 175 cut like a diamond.  Didn't maintain any of that since last fall and now I'm back up to 215.  Trust, I know all about that up and down weight gain/loss.  I think that's what kills my motivation: knowing I can lose the weight pretty easily.

I just know it's hard for me to give up alcohol and eating like @#@!, and quite frankly I have terrible will power when it comes to gratifying evils.

This.  Problem is, most of my friends live in either the Hartford area or right in NYC so I don't have that accessible workout buddy.  I actually tried it with my GF but I'm used to my soccer workouts and going 110% when I do workout and she's a priss and doesn't take working out all that serious so the motivation drops on my end.  I'm not about to drop dough on a personal trainer either.  Hell, I have the knowledge to be a personal trainer myself.

I got clothes in my closet from '06 I haven't popped tags on and shoes that don't know what sunlight look like.  That won't work for me.

I have run around my neighborhood every now and then and was on a pretty good routine back in August/September, then that sun started going down by 7 and it was darkness by the time I got home.  Top it off my iPod was stolen end of September and all incentive to work out was lost.

Question:  What are some good filling, healthy, low caloric foods that I can consume throughout the day.  My appetite is a huge reason for my weight gain.
