Moving android apps to SD card

I know there is an Android thread but I figure this would get more exposure. I decided to factory reset my Samsung Captivate because of all the glitches after flashing to 2.2. I wanted to back up some apps (games mostly) because of all the files that I have saved on it. Simply just went to settings and moved files to SD card. But after I performed the reset I lost them anyways. Now what was the point of that? Was it not that external SD card that it was transferred to?

But is there a way to save any apps dled from the market to your external SD? Or do you need to root for that.

Easiest way to do it would be with Titanium Backup, which requires root.

Since apps aren't installed on the SD card (just stored there,) you can't just plug the sd card in and continue to use them after a reset/device change.

Gotta root to move those apps that don't have App2SD built in them already

I have a Cappy

I use TB, back up apps to my external and when I flash a new ROM, out of habit I always removed my external and sim.
