Moving out to *insert major city* to pursue my dreams. Looking for insights.

its all about connections in this industry. go where you know the most people and can cultivate the most connections. I am on the sound reinforcement side of things and 99% of my business revolves around who i know. Most acts you see these days aren't any more talented than the next, they all use the same producers and got into the industry by looking pretty or cause they know someone. So go and intern and kiss +%@ and make friends cause unless you're on some lady gaga next level you can do it all wave the only way too succede is by networking

word, I'm establishing a few connects actually. at this point im struggling to get the show thing started up cuz everything i do is 100% professional, and that level of professional quality costs a grip. so as far as knowing people, i def think other cities may have more to offer me.

I don't know what type of music you do but take a quick look at the artist who are the raising stars of the rap game (drake, BIG KRIT, J. Cole, Wiz) none of them come from a cities known for music.

I'm in class so I will be back with more input.

Try San Diego.

SD is probably the cheapest compared to LA, OC, and SF. It's close enough to LA, OC, LV and just short plane ride away from SF.

The night life may not be as big as the other cities but IMO it might be your best bet. I've seen a whole lot of underground bands, hip-hop groups perform in UCSD and SDSU and the turn out is always good. There are also a lot of smaller venues where you could start and make a name for your self. Again it's all about who you know and getting your foot through the door.

If all else fails, collect Cali unemployment. $475 a week
