figured there are a lot of NTers in the bay area so i thought itd be a good place to ask. i recently got a job offer at a place in the bay area (san mateo) and am probably going to be moving out there in the next month or so. i'm leaning towards living in the city and commuting to work, but am open to options. what's everyone think the best areas in the bay are to live? good neighborhoods in the city and stuff. im probably going to be renting a larger studio or 1 bedroom, but the job pays pretty decent so i kind of know what im getting into with the city prices.

I suggest you go to city-data.com/forums and ask in the san francisco section. You'll get much better responses there.

san mateo is not bad. you're right in the middle of everything (SF, San Jose, Oakland)

HOLLA the 650, that's where I'm from

why would u live in the city?
the rent is high, the commute will suck... but if you're that into it, then by all means do it. The city is the place to be.

keep in mind though, the commute to SF from san mateo is really fast, so going on the weekends would be no prob whatsoever.
