New ESPN 30 by 30, looks to be good. Always interested in seeing anything with Ali.

It will be great, but very sad. This is probably the most depressing fight I have ever seen (didn't see it live of course). Just hearing the stories ofHolmes yelling "stop it, stop it I'm going to hurt him", and the he keeps pounding on him. Or when Ali is doing his pre-fight promos, and thepress has heard it all and leaves in the middle. Just a terrible way to end, in the hot night in Vegas....

I feel the same exact way. These ESPN 30 for 30 documentaries have been really good ,but I cant watch this one. Not yet.

I have that SI of this fight, the cover of ALI in the corner just looking spent. It is just so powerful to read that article, such a sad end to one of thegreatest sports icons ever. Basically an over the hill, already startin to have brain damage Ali walking into a fight against one of the most underappreciated fighters of all time to getdestroyed. How everyone still beleived in Ali regardless etc.

This particular scene was hella sad to me. I didn't know Holmeswas openly weeping after the fight. I thought that pretty much captured how he felt about Ali...good documentary. I have to admit I chuckled when Ali wasposing for pics with those chicks. Dude was looking like

Larry Holmes was the man. Can't forget when he said that the reason Don King had hair like that was to hide his horns.

Also Ali was given drugs that should not have been administered to someone who is about to go into a fight.

whats worse is they let him fight another time after that Holmes fight.

Ali threw 1 punch in the first 2 rounds...

Got around to finishing this up. Just so many things hit me.


1. What a roundtable of boxing historians
2. I love listening to Dundee and Pachecho and their stories
3. Holmes KNEW what was going to happen, hell he was depressed PRIOR to the fight because he knew how it would go
4. Amazing that his speech was so slowed and slurred, even at that time
5. The medication he took....sigh
6. Cosell's voice announcing, so sad
7. I just wish he was done after Manila


No athlete has ever captured my imagination like Ali, but what a sad ending
