Sup guys...I figured I would get a better opinion/help in S&T...

I was at work the other day and I was walking into the bathroom to wash my hands before my lunch break...I opened the door and I guess there was water on thefloor and I stepped with my left leg and it slid on the water and extended out...

The past 2 days my leg feels like something is pulling in there...It is mainly in my thigh and kind of extends down a little past my knee... It doesn'treally hurt when I walk around...It mainly hurts if I am sitting down for a while then stand up..It hurts for a few seconds then is fine when I startwalking... .Should I just keep some ice on it and elevate it while I am at home? I looked online and it seems like its a muscle strain, but I figured I wouldask here if anyone knows if it is anything else. Thanks

Could it be a groin injury?

Either way if it is a quadricep or adductor muscle strain, you've got the right idea about recovery. Ice it 3 times a day for 20 minutes and I suggestresting for 1 week. Although you may not feel any pain after a few days, this injury can be re-occuring if you resume physical activity too soon.

I also recommend massaging the injured muscle with a hard tennis ball as this will increase blood circulation into that area which will speed up recovery.Feeling discomfort while massaging with a tennis ball is normal, you wont be damaging the muscle any further by doing this.

You can also massage your quadriceps with a foam roller (which can be found at some gyms or bought for around $20 at a sporting goods store). If its a groininjury than dont bother as its difficult to massage the groin with a foam roller.

Oh yeah, do NOT stretch the injured muscle, no matter what anyone tells you. Stretching weak/injured muscles only increases the risk of further damage.

I appreciate the info man...No its not a groin injury....The main pain is like right above my knee on the back outside part of my thigh...I guess you areright because I have been massaging it and it feels annoying but better at the same time...I will continue to put ice on it and not stretch it out like yousaid
