aye everything illegal here is legal there with an american passport (use your imagination)
enjoy yourself in the mutha land

Been to the Philippines 3 times. The most recent time was 2 years ago with my whole family and my g/f. Also know that my g/f is not Filipino, she is Mexican. She was getting stares from everyone. Like everyone said, be prepared for the heat/humidity. My girl wasn't ready for it and she hurled a few times. Dontoverdress or show off. Leave your sneaks at home; you don't need them. Hit the clubs with your cousins, go shopping, check out a few beaches, waterfalls, etc.

i havent been to the philippines in about 15 yrs... finally went back last yr for 5 weeks about the same time as now

the weather is gonna be hot and a lil humid at times, but its good to go now instead of during the summer = rainy and even more hotter weather

in manila/makati... expect a lot of pollution, a lot of people, a lot of traffic (dont drive... its mad reckless out there, u cant make left turns in the majorroads)

dont wear ur fancy outfits unless ur surrounded by people u know or else... patay ka

food is mad cheap

even if u go to the really fancy restaurants, be sure u go to jolibee and max fried chicken

theres a lot of fine ladies too and they like the american $$$

speaking tagalog is always a plus

if u have time visit boracay or palawan... u wont regret it : fine ladies, one of the best beaches in the world

other than the plane ticket to get there... money shouldnt be an issue $1000 - 2000 should be enough for two weeks

^hoy, pare....you're filipino too?
laugh.gif
If you haven't done so yet,go ice skating in the Philippines. Funny, it's always so cold in nyc and the first time I've ever gone ice skating was in the Philippines.

I wanna go now. Maybe after I graduate...!?!?

I'm not Filipino either, so it should be extra cool.

havent been there in 5 years since I left, should be back this July hopefully

gonna hit up that Mall of Asia and boracay

Enjoy the food and make sure to only drink water for a bottle...A lot of stuff out there could get you "mudd-butt". I want to go back and see the family, but with me trying to finish up school and finding a full-time job, I don't think I'll be able to back to the P.I. for a while.

This is the basics right here. When I went back in summer of 2000, I avoided speaking, and if I did, I spoke w/ an accent, believe it or not. Filipinosin the Philippines have a good radar of who is Fil-Am. I was not fond of the heat, but did get used to it when the rain came. Do, drink water from a bottle;you don't know what is in the water there. Take lots of pics, ummmm, that's it. Have fun!!

6'5''? Wow, I don't think I've ever met any Filipino past 6'2''. When I was over there, I felt like a giant and I'm only 5'9''-5'10''.
I got a cousin full filipino and hes 6'7
Im mixed with filipino and Only 5'11

Amar and Azusa, the most Filipino place outside of the PI hahaha.

Word....West Covina is just flooded with them.

I haven't gone back to the PI since I was born the re. Hope to make it out within the next 2-3 years. Was supposedly going to go this summer of 08 butplans had drastically changed.

One more thing. I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned yet, but if you wanna play ball with the locals, have money to bet with or you ain'tgetting on the court. And be ready to play for real, for real. I had my VC V's on and these dude were swapping worn out Beach Walks with each other andthey were faaaast and they're jump shots are like 99%. I swear I was playing Live in max speed and I had to play like Shaq for the first time in mylife.

Just got back last week... from my wedding!

well try to check

- Makati (greenbelt area)
- Boracay
- The Fort
- Tomas morato ave. & Timog ave. QC
- MALLS (but dont shop! its cheaper here in the US) $1= P40
- local foods! try em all!!! (we got a lot of good food there)
- $2000 is enough for 2 weeks!

Bring this with you all the time!

i just got back and had hella fun. honestly for two weeks and partying about 5 nights I brought along 350 (US) and was straight. (I went with my tatay andstayed with my tita so food and lodging was taken care of
glasses.gif
)
I got a few shirts for some homeys but didn't shop that much.
If you can go to Boracay (kinda hard if you didn't already plan it) but try to stay in Station 1 or 2, 3 is mad shady. Club Paraw and the surrounding clubsare dope and play like club/hip hop music.

Back in Taguig/Makati I only got to hit up Embassy a few nights, but on Wednesdays its hip hop night and you get two free bacardi drinks of your choice withcover (400p/10usd). I've heard good things about Ascend, Piedra, and Absinthe. I was coming home at like 4-5 in the morning and the club was still poppinoff. Taxis are mad cheap too.

If you have cousins your age roll with them. I was always in a group so I never got into beef but a little over a month ago a dude was beat to death outside ofEmbassy. Rockwell/Powerplant has a GreyOne right next to the TeamManila store.
If you want a new cell go to Greenhills. Greenbelt is stacked with LV, Lacoste, Gucci (I think?). Hit up Razon's for Pampangan Halo Halo.

And bring a lighter because everyone got yosi.

The closest I've ever been to P.I is amar / azusa
laugh.gif

Anyways, my boy is from cebu and said its beautiful out there, so I suggest you check it out.

When I go I'm hunting down all the mestiza chicks

Bring around $3,000 and live like a KING FOR 1 MONTH.

Avoid your relatives if possible, unless they're filthy rich. Otherwise, you'll end up going home with nothing but the clothes on your back. They willask for everything even your used undies. Plus they'll take you hostage and make you stay in the province while you buy them beer everyday.

Stick to posh places like Rockwell, Ayala Center, Alabang Town Center.

Check out the malls. There's lots of them in the city. People spend most of their time and do almost everything in the malls (shop, eat, hear mass, go toschool, plastic surgery).

Try not to attract attention especially when you're at a popular club like The Embassy. You'll never know when some jealous ugly ****** lunaticwho's somehow related to a politician will sneak up on you together with his 20 or so pals just because his girl glanced at you or caught your attention(most women here are suckers for people with foreign accent).

Stick to white Ts and shorts during the day. Don't even bring your jewelry. It gets sticky and hot early. I've lived here more than half of my life andI still hate the weather.

Bottled water is a must.

Don't leave home without a roll of tissue paper.

Get a flu shot. We always get hit by different kinds of flu every month or so.

Don't lend anyone money. Don't go or accompany anyone to a casino.

Hit the beach. Boracay has a wild night life. Palawan has the best marine life but gets boring once the sun sets. Bohol is also another place worth visiting.

Shopping? Fly out to Hong Kong! You certainly won't regret it. 100% of the people I convinced to go agree that HK is definitely worth the trip.

Do some crazy Filipino things like...

Eat balut and have some soup number 5.

Watch a Filipino movie even if you don't understand a damn word.

Drive on the crazy streets of Metro Manila. EDSA and Commonwealth should make you *#%* in your pants.

Watch a PBA game for some laughs.

Attend a "fiesta" at a nearby province.

This thread is appreciated. Good info here. Hearing some of your stories has me shook about going to clubs and malls even. But when I do go, I'lldefinitely take your advices and stay low key.

if you haven't done so already in the US, shoot some guns in the philippines. i dont know, but it was just awesome especially from NY where you can barelyfire a BB gun without getting arrested hahahaha.
