Mayer makes corny music that no self-respecting rock fan would listen to, let alone support. I dont even mind the guy when I see him on interviews, but the love for this guy is ridiculous...I'm not saying you are in particular, but it seems like many people who dont listen to rock SWEAR by mayer, as if they have any point of reference...this is even more so true with hip hop heads. I guess his accessibility turns people onyo rock  who would otherwise not listen to the genre.

Well the list obviously wasn't in regards to their technical ability. They listed Bob Dylan as one of the best singers (which I agree), yet we all know Bob isn't a great vocalist. It's about Impact and what the guitar means. Technically Jack White may not be the greatest, but his guitar is unmistakeable. Say that about Mayer. John is adult contemporary for 20 somethings that don't understand that there are actually much better singer/songwriters.

I'm not trying to sound like a fanboy, but I think a lot of you are drastically underestimating John Mayer's skill on the guitar just because of the music he makes. Don't be confused, he is a beast on the guitar.
