the car that i have right now (97 altima) ran out of oil the other day and stopped. so now its time to get a new car. my parents are buying the car for me and im guessing the highest they will go is around 4-5k, so what do you guys think the best choice would be? on the slim chance that they go higher than 5000, can i have a couple of good cars around 9-10k limit too? but mostly 4-5. im more interested in a sedan than a coupe, and i wouldn't mind a hatchback either

thanks

maybe you're better off not owning a vehicle.

dude talking like the car ran out of gas.

cars dont just run out of oil fam. you would have to go months, years before your car 'runs' out of oil. when was the last time you had an oil change?

go buy a civic or corrola and call it a day.

i know, i asked my dad when the last oil change was because the sticker wasnt on the car and he said i dont need one for a while. the oil blinker only blinked every so often so i never caught a glimpse of it

oil changes are regular, normally every 3k miles or 3 months if you're using regular oil and not synthetic.

go get a beater car and learn to properly take car of a car before getting a decent one.

im kind of leaning towards a hatchback. any recommendations?

it could have been leaking or burning oil and run out. i know the 8th gen corollas have problem consuming oil, i had to put in a quart every 2k miles. get a civic, accord, or camry read about basic car maintenance and you're good to go. like i said only corollas in 4-5k range are 8th gens and those can have a oil consumption problem so don't get those.
