Raising awareness or assimilating attributes from a culture that some people aren't familiar with.
Those are positive contributions in my opinion.

As far as the i'm not black , yes you are, no i'm not i'm Dominican debate, I think Ninja does not want to be confused with or identify with being "black" or african american, which as a dominican, he isn't.

"Black"= African American= a person whose family has been in the United States for many generations and is of a mixed heritage which often includes Native American, European, and is a descendant of the African slaves who were brought directly to the United States. Culturally, has had the US experience which includes the civil rights movement, MLK jr, often church, music, family traditions, foods etc

Dominican= a person whose roots are from the Dominican Republic = most of whom are of mixed heritage which includes Spanish (spain) and descendants of the African slaves who were brought to the Dominican Republic. The native population died out from the diseases the Spanish brought with them. Culturally, Spanish is the primary language, and there are different foods, music and traditions that are part of that specific cultural experience.

Here in the US people are grouped together by race or how they look, OUTSIDE of the US people are grouped by Nationality or their country of origin. For all of us US citizens, when we travel outside the US, we are referred to and identified as Americans, doesn't matter what you look like.
