With all the different religions out there, how do you know yours is right? Further more, what do you say to a person who's been brought up their entirelife believing in another higher power? Are they wrong? How can you be certain that your deity isn't the wrong one to follow?

What I'm trying to ask is how do you know your God is the right God?

every single one of you is God.

we need to use intuition, not prayer.

God don't live up in the sky.

he lives in me. and you.

the only right religion is acknowledging a Supreme Being. living life humbly and to show love is my religion

The question isn't "does God exist?"

Stay on topic.

That's why the whole religion thing is silly to me. Who's to say that their way is right or true when there's no way to prove anything in relationto God? The question you've asked here is the reason that religion is responsible for so many millions of deaths, and also one of the many reasons I stayas far away from it as possible.

well your question is like asking "what type of cookies should i leave santa clause?"

because its a question about something false

smell me?

This man gets it.

I've never really acknowledged other religions, I only focus on mine. It really don't matter which one is right or wrong to me, all it matters is thatyou have some sort of faith. Having faith gives you that sense of hope, if you don't have faith you pretty much don't have anything to look forward to.

"Faith" is the answer you are looking for. Faith in YOUR god and the rejection of others because they are false gods...

I'm not a part of any of that but "faith" seems to be the core answer to every religious question which ironically translates into believingwithout questioning... again, I want no parts..

And so religion, to a large extent, became divisive rather than a unifying force. Instead of bringing an ending of violence and hatred through a realization of the fundamental oneness of all life, they brought more violence and hatred, more divisions between people as well as between different religions and even within the same religion. They became ideologies, belief systems people could identify with and so use them to enhance their false sense of self. Through them, they could make themselves "right" and others "wrong" and thus define their identity though their enemies, the "others," the "nonbelievers" or "wrong believers" who not infrequently they saw themselves justified in killing. Man made "God" into his own image. The eternal, the infinite, and the unnameable was reduced to a mental idol that you had to believe in and worship as "my god" or "our god"

Do I believe in God?

Yes.

Do I believe my God is better than your God?

It's not my position to answer that question. And even if I was, then no. Why would I put down someone else's God and their faith down if it'sdifferent from mine?

My job is to spread the word of my God to those that want to hear it.

I believe my God is the only true, God, several other monotheistic follow my same God, only through different texts.

The whole "if you were born somewhere else you wouldn't even be____" never made sense to me, I wasn't born anywhere else.

Many of you aren't answering the question. I know what faith is, but what I'm asking is what happens when the different faiths of different peopleconflicts.

All this faith talk just makes me even more curious because some of you guys can't even answer the question about your own personal God, whom you soworship.

Christianity, for example, has a God who puts emphasis on not worshiping any other. So do those people who so worship another being suffer in eternaldamnation?
Islam, for example, says that there is no other god but Allah. So are they essentially saying that the rest of the human race is doing the religionthing wrong?

Hmm interesting question, hoping we get some mature responses.

I'm Baha'i. I do not believe my religion is THE right religion, but it is right for ME. The Baha'i Faith is based on unity of all religions..before I even declared Baha'i I respected other peoples beliefs in regard to religion.

I also believe in progressive revelation, another principle of the Baha'i Faith, - in that all of the prophets.. i.e Jesus, Muhammed, Buddha,Baha'u'llah (our prophet) etc.. All came with the essentially message but just at different times therefor changed a bit for that time. I have friendswho are Catholic, Muslim, Christian, Hindu, etc and I think we are ALL right. God is God.. no matter if he is Allah, God, the different deities of Hinduism, etc.

This question will never be answered satisfactorily. That's where faith comes in. My personal belief in JesusChrist has nothing to do with religion, since so many of the worlds problems and misunderstandings have directly AND indirectly come about as a result ofreligion.

Do I believe in a higher power who presented Himself to humanity as Jesus Christ? Yes.
Am I religious in the sense that I have a "holier than thou" attitude towards people who don't believe? No.

I love all of you guys.

That was going the be the topic of one of my other threads
