anyone doubtin this man is crazy

hands down

hes tryin to spark dialogue and tryin to get people to stop seeing it as just rap, but look at the bigger picture. HIP HOP
is not just rap... Hip hop is dead and the lack of love for the art that is hip hop, is the reason....

i dont recall soulja boys album title gettin this much attention/emotion/tension/insight/discussion

OPEN YOUR EYES

Dude, I know his message is good. I respect that. But don't tell me he's not trying to make money off this controversy. It's like, as of late, he needs some ridiculous claim about the game to sell. It's not really a good look to me...

agreed

Actually now that i think about it, I think the new album title:

NAS

is supposed to be like NWA

[insert old album title] Against Society

He said that in Zone Out I think.

Really? If he really wanted to make money dont you think he'd be doing Budwiser commercials (which he did turn down)?
or have Danica Patrick and D.E. Jr in his videos??? Its more than just the paper, I'm pretty sure he's good financially... So was NWA
and Cube tryna make money too? So I guess ++#$ Gregory was tryna stack some paper too with his book? Richard Prior too huh???

What makes Esco any different?

Had Nas done those Budweiser commercials he would have been a complete sellout like Jay-Z. It is about money, Nas is generating hype for an upcomingalbum. Nas is smart about it though, unlike Jay-Z, Nas won't +@**% himself out to just anyone to make a dollar and that is what I can respect. Nas stillgot raps, no doubt about it but I agree that this controversy is not a good look. That said, I knew all along the name of the album was going to change. It's just too controversial.

I hope it doesn't. I can accept the name change, but keep the "controversial" tracks, we can accept a regular exterior but keep the suprisefillin (pause)
Nas Unveils New Album Cover & Video For "Be A +##*+* Too"
Artist: Nas
Track: Be A +##*+* Too

2

Nas and Rik Cordero held a special event last night to unveil the new video for "Be A +##*+* Too". The black and white video was directed by Cordero and features a reflective Nas. The video has not be aired publicly yet, but Billboard published a play by play in their article today:
The treatment for the black-and-white video, directed by Rik Cordero, features Nas looking at his reflection through a mirror and rapping about racism, politics and religion, among other things, while images of people of different races sporadically appear throughout. "We all black within, okay / we all African, okay," the Queensbridge rapper rhymes over a piano-heavy beat.

Towards the middle of the video, a scene of what appears to be a white slave owner pointing a gun at a black male slave emerges, right before the song shifts into its chorus: "They like to strangle $+*%!** / blaming $+*%!** / hanging $+*%!** / still you wanna be a +##*+* too?"
At the end, Nas, still facing the mirror, says, "F#ck you. You had it all and you threw it all away."

Nas also unveiled new artwork for the album cover that depicts Nas' back covered in lash marks. He may not be able to officially call the album +##*+*, but he says the cover, "speaks for itself. It says '+##*+*' real loud."

YHTNews was on the scene and videoed the full event. It's currently on youTube in 6 parts, but I won't be surprised if it gets taken down by the end of the day. But, since Prince isn't in the vids, they stand a chance of staying up I guess.

Am I the only one that don't see the connection between doing advertisement commercials and being a sell out. Its like n's gotta be as broke as theirfans to be loyal to them.

The argument of Nas doing the Budweiser commercial making him a sellout is correct. You posting the Sprite commercial isfundamentally wrong. Every celebrity is after endorsements, whether or not the company and its product falls in line with said persons principles is theissue... Nas stated on his MTV Diary a few years ago that he didn't want to take money in return for advertising a poison to his community.

NasNcover.jpg

...you really don't need a "word" on the cover when you choose this image, besides the fact that Nas has stated the contentof the album will not change.

AND, to those who say the two songs that leaked are weak, not in depth enough or whatever, at least the subject is substantive. "...critics eat a#%#%..." but that's another post

Dude, you must be blind if you can't see that he is trying to make money off of this controversy. Everyone who's anyone knows this albumis coming out now, and all dude had to say was, "HHID, and my next album will be called N_."

I think you think I called Nas a sellout. I didn't. I just simply stated the fact that the whole HHID and N_ thing is losing my respect for him. Youcan still be artistically influential without trying to start an uproar.

-edit-

As for NWA and Ice Cube...wayyyyyy different generation. The hip hop game needed them to do what they did, for the most part. It wouldn't be the samewithout them. Can't really say the same for HHID, in my eyes.
