Nas' "It Was Written" is one of the top 5 greatest Hip-Hop albums of all time. Yea I said it.

That's the thing though.
I'm not the biggest Esco fan around, but I still +$$+ with this album.
OB4CL is the best mafioso album IMO.
That is everything you want in an album.
From front to back, you know where that album is going, you understand the Message Ghost+Rae are conveying.
This album is different.
I didn't get what you were saying at first, but I get your view now, I still kind of disagree with it though.
To me, after seeing Nasty Nas with Illmatic, the listener expected another Nasty Nas inspired joint.
This album isn't the sequel to Illmatic.
The "in" thing at that time was mafioso inspired rap, and that's what Nas went for.
This album has alot of bangers, but it doesn't flow(IMO) like an album should.
Illmatic is my fav. Nas album, but to me God's Son(or maybe even Untitled, seriously that album is amazing, but that's another thread) is the mostCOMPLETE.

That's a much better arguement than Illmatic vs. Reasonable Doubt to me.
The only thing those albums have in common are that they were both debuts...
I'm as big of a Nas fan as you'll find, but I think RD is slightly better than IWW.
Regrets, Can I Live, D'Evils, Feelin it, Dead Presidents, Friend or Foe, Bring it on, etc.
That takes nothing away from IWW, RD is one of the greatest hip hop albums ever.

No way this top 5. I don't know if it was even top 5 in 96. Heads touched on it, the joint was just all over the place- I could never put it anywhereclose to Illmatic, etc. even though Nas was spitting hard.
