I agree.  I remember talking to my bul around when HHID dropped and I was saying that when Nas' career is over and people look back on his album catalog, he will be considered the greatest and it will be pretty much unanimous.

I've been saying this in this forum for years as well... He's just cut from a different cloth... The Marley's, Lennons, Gayes, Shakurs... Just a different breed that isn't really fully appreciated/understood until its all said and done.  I honestly believe that the world needs his music more than any other artist in this genre.

Nas is a living legend and has a good case for Goat status. "Distant Relatives" is a classic and the best album of the year. "Untitled" was damn near a classic. People don't really appericate the ground breaking material he puts out. There are a lot rappers but few rap artist. Nas is an artist in every sense of the world. I look forward to his next album and I hope he does another album with Damien Marley.

Nas' behavior in that vid was part of his mystique at that time. His reclusiveness on top of his ability to kill everything he'd been on leading up to Illmatic was ridiculous. I remember dudes crowning him even before his debut album dropped.  It's crazy how many heads that record went over back then and still today more than 15 years later.

What's even more crazy is he had to rewrite everything because he lost his orginal rhyme book for Illmatic.

As much as I hate Cake for his Chicago propaganda, I'm glad that I know people like him are around and acknowledge the true mastery of Nas' work. And I'm also glad I'm not the only one who sees Nas' body of work as more than just music, it's art. Salute.
