I don't know how stupid they were about it.

I think it was shortly before he was out for the season Pacers were sitting him in a game against the Lakers.

I got there early and Vic was doing windmills in shoot around like it was nothing.

Pacer's weren't good enough to manage his minutes like Toronto did with Kawhi and still make the playoffs, so I think he told them he felt good, he looked good, so they let him play.
