NBA Off-Season News Thread: Roy extends 80/5, AI to Grizz, Chandler/Okafor swap, Marquis to C's.

Yeah, but he HAS constantly been in trade rumors every year, and if the Lakers sign Odom for the 10 mil he wants and then trade to the Mavs, their contractsmatch up pretty well, plus the Lakers would just have him for a rental for 1 year cause of the team option for next year.

I still think if Boozer is willing to sacrifice go hard after him in a sign and trade.

My IDEAL situation would be this though:

Portland signs Millsap
Utah gets another trade partner for Boozer
LO finally wakes up and comes back to the Lakers, but that's pretty much not going to happen

so it seems that lamar wants more money but will sign with lesser teams for less money (unless portland is dumb enough to sign him)

dude is dumber than ariza

We didn't even bring that up. That came from ESPN's Chris Broussard. So did the Mavs deal with Josh Howard.

Always throwing laker fans under the bus....
Hawks Trade Andersen's Rights To Houston
The Atlanta Hawks today traded the rights of David Andersen to the Houston Rockets for a future second round pick, cash and future considerations, it was announced by Executive Vice President/General Manager Rick Sund. Previously selected by the Hawks in the second round of the 2002 Draft - the 37th pick overall - Andersen is an Australian professional basketball player who has played internationally since the 1998-99 season, most recently in the Spanish League with FC Barcelona
any idea on him. Is he coming to America? either way its a big body in the middle.

As for the whole LO thing, dude wanted 10M and a long term deal, but as the market shook out, the Lakers were offering 8-9M 3/4 years. Guess he tried to playthe field to get some leverage, and Buss got fed up

I still think dude ends up back in LA though.

Looking at his physical tools, it's not hard to see why he was drafted with the #37 pick in 2002. Showing great size,a terrific frame, solid strength, and solid athleticism, Andersen would have had no problem competing in the NBA had the Atlanta Hawks ever decided tobring him over. He's a fluid and highly coordinated big man on top of that, capable of getting to where he needs to on the floor and looking highlyreactive to things that occur around him.

Offensively, the impression that we're looking at an NBA caliber big man only increases when evaluating with the terrific versatilitythat Andersen displays. We're talking about an ambidextrous player who produces both in the low post as well as facing the basket, and canalso do some things in between as well. Andersen has some raw back to the basket skills, being capable of backing his man down to a certain extent andfinishing with a pretty jump-hook with either hand, or a phenomenal turnaround jumper. He has excellent touch here, but isn't the toughest big manyou'll find around, and thus has problems finishing in traffic at times, especially when faced with contact.

Facing the basket is where Andersen looks more comfortable, as you can tell by the phenomenal percentage he shoots from behind the 3-point line,an astounding 61%. His mid-range jumper is also excellent-he's very dangerous on the pick and pop--and if there was any doubt about his touch, consider that he shoots an amazing 91% from the free throw line. He can also put the ball on the floor, not showing the greatest firststep, but just serving as another weapon he has at his disposal to keep the defense honest. He's also an excellent passer, evidenced by his positiveassist to turnover ratio. Generally speaking, he's a mistake free player who seems to know his role on the floor and is very efficient on top of that.

As far as weaknesses are concerned, you have to start with his defense, which is incredibly poor. He shows very little in the ways offundamentals here, not being physical at all trying to deny his man space, showing average awareness defending the pick and roll, and looking pretty soft ingeneral on this end of the floor. He's not a shot-blocking threat at all, and just isn't much of a presence in the paint in general, something thatopposing teams seem to take advantage of if they have a strong back to the basket player they can throw the ball to. He's also just an OKrebounder.
