Need help, song ID vol. 90s R&B Song

I can't get this song out of my head and it's buggin a *****

It's got a hook or portion in the song when the artist is yelling "I apologize!"

For some reason I'm thinking Raphael Saadiq, Mint Condtion, or somebody like that. Vague clues, but I know somebody knows the song I'm talkin about. Once I find out I'll be shaking my head because the song is probably in my library
