Need Help w/ Computer Issue

so my dad had my laptop on the couch's arm and it fell ...it continued to work fine ...i was in the process of setting up his network so i restarted the laptop.when the cpu rebooted it went through its normal process except for Windows 7 never loaded. I just see a black screen but you can still see and move the mouse cursor.anyone have ANY idea what it might be?im going to take it to Best Buy but wont be able to for a few days and this is really getting to me.any ideas.Thanks in advance.
