Need some Quick iPhone help X_x

In the morning my dude is coppin that 3GS so im taking his iPhone 3G off of his hands..

My question is how do i unlock it so that i can use my T-Mobile sim/service on the 3G?

BTW he just updated the 3G with that new update they released for it, will i bee able to unlock itstill?

Oh and yes i know there is an iPhone thread.. No i am notreading through all of those pages
