New camera time...

I'm also in the market for a new point and shoot and was looking at the Sony HX5V.  Any NT'ers own this one?

Price Range: $400ish.

Must have video.

I just got a Samsung TL105 last week and I'm happy with it. It's thin, takes nice pictures (12mp), and has what they claim is 720p video for $130-150.

Get this camera & look nowhere else ...

Rebel T2i ... it's worth it, plus the videos are in HD.
I'm in the market for a DSLR--would this be the best one?  I'm fairly amateur and would just be using it for leisure and such.

Bought my Rebel XT when it just was discontinued 2 years ago, I love it. I'm no pro by any means, I just like the different *%#@ I can do with it

Go with the XS, or a used XT if you can find one

That's not the best point and shoot but it is definitely a quality camera.

but it doesn't shoot too well at night

That's with any P&S really..the S90 is better than most at night with its oversized sensor and the fact that it can shoot at F/2.0

WOW im sorry but you are very wrong lol.. S90 has what 3.8 wide angle zoom? thats about it im definitely taking the Panasonic if you disagree please let me know why and i will prove you wrong oh  yeah and it shoots in 720p which is hd.  idk about you but i would much rather have 12x zoom anyday also there will be a newer model coming out that will blow that s90 away.

Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZS7 (better than the ZS3 up above) - has the same lens found in Leicas -- costs about $306 at B&H
Canon Powershot S90 (shoots RAW)  costs about $365 on Amazon & B&H
Which point and shoot has the best image quality?
I think they're fairly comparable (along with the LX3 mentioned above) though I've read from many reviews that the Panasonics have a slightly better image quality than the Canon S90. A lot of it might have to do with personal preference though. I would go with a Panasonic since the Canon lacks HD video recording.

Was looking for a cheap cam. About to cop one tommorow. Thanks

Nah this is the best one because you can record HD video ... go with this one.

If video is not a requirement, go with the XSI-maintains versatility with quality photos for a couple hundred lower~~ buy mine!
