new phone for at&t help! what should i get? i can get any!

alright so my aunt came from the philippines and as a graduation present she said i can get any phone i want. i dont know much about phones so what do you guys recommend? i want a fun phone with internet and a lot of useful apps. i really like the iphone because of the apps and games and most importantly the google maps. people tell me not to get the iphone and get something else. idk what to get! my friend has the htc phone android phone? do they make this availble for at&t? what phones do you guys recommend that has the same features as the iphone but better?

does black berry have apps like the iphone? what bout the HTC? or the android? i know my friend has the HTC from sprint. idk which one exactly but it has apps like the iphone and it looks alot better than the iphone. anyone have experience with this one?
