Hey NT, I know I'm probably gonna get flamed by some for this thread, but I figured I would ask for help...one of my girl friends from college has a goodfriend from high school starting his own sneaker line...he already has some investors and is working on getting financing through a small business loan rightnow...he has marketing people on board as well as a manufacturer in China to produce the sneakers

Anyway, he has asked me to design some shoes for him since I am so knowledgeable about the industry and have design experience (civil engineering, etc.)...Ihave come up with a few ideas and sketches, and want to get some ideas from you NT

What aspect of a sneaker is most important to you?
-comfort -color -style -popularity -function -etc.

I am trying to think of ideas that will work for all ages, and we are developing a whole line of sneakers, from very mid range costingsneaks to higher end products...Apparently the guy starting the company has some new technology going into these shoes that and that's what will make them differ from other sneakers the most, but he cannot talk about it yet because he is working on thepatent now

Any help will be greatly appreciated NT and hopefully I can come up with a design that will be liked by the masses

someone on NT created his own sneaker a ways back. thats all i remember...

In this order?

A sneaker wont sell if the style is garbage. For the most part, unless you want to advertise running shoes then yes, comfort > style. But yeah, make surethe design is on point.

Yea, we're working on the logo now because the founder of the company has a temporary name that I'm not in support of, basically because it sounds toosimilar to an existing brand

I'm definitely going for a casual wear shoe that I can market to the most people...it's really difficult for me to not copy other existing shoe designsbecause so many things have been done already, but I think the technology going into the shoes will allow people to realize their difference, which can allowfor a simple design on the shoe

Any materials people favor? and specific accent colors that you look for typically?...I have the basics done already, just working on the lines and theaesthetics, so this is where all of your help would really come in handy

Thanks again NT

Anything in the sneaker game that you've been looking for that no company has managed to put into their designs?...I value your opinions

all about the style and colors and yea comfort as well

it depends what its for if its my running shoe i want it to be function all the way

if its for me to go hit on girls its got be be style and color

if its to walk to class style and color also

if the shoe is uncomfortable i just put insoles in them such as all my sperrys those are style and color but not comfort

Style and Confort
and when you make it to the big leagues you can always send me a pair 11.5

Comfort is #1. Durability is a big plus as well. Of course style and color matter too.

Style > *
At a certain point, comfort doesn't REALLY matter, it can't be like walking on cement barefoot but it doesn't have to be pillow soft.
Color, just take the basics such as black/red and all white and navy/* and some others and your good

comfort, style and do not skimp on quality because of cost! you cant fool shoe heads and you have one chance to make a good impression
