Anyone else liked the gaffiti on the MTA trains? I think they should dedicate at least 2 or 3 cars for it. It was a sense of what New York was/is. People thatcame to New York liked to see it, it showed them a litttle of our culture. And plus it looked hot to me and my peoples.

while i can appreciate the art...it just wouldnt work out..

i live in NYC, and i wish every train looked like this.

leave the insides alone though im over that

Haven't seen that on the 5 train...and its literally across the street from me

oh %+$%, I know the ppl sitting on the train, whered you take that pic at, anyplace close to flatbush????

Back in the day all the trains were covered in graffiti, they should keep some of them around, adds some flavor to the city.

all those trains (redbirds) are still under ground....there and the bottom of the Hudson

I personally enjoyed it growing up in nyc.. and still do. I myself was horrible at it

But i did have some friends growing up that would go out 2am to do a3-4 hour session.

Just about to say that. Watched it in GEO 171. Good film. Understood it more with the knowledge my dad spit about New York City during that time.

I miss these trains and the artists that made it happen. The 2, 3, J, 7 out in Queens. Most of you are way too young to remember, but those were some greatdays as a kid being mesmerized by the visuals of those moving trains.

It was those artists that helped give NYC a little bit of that "edge" and legend it has now, sadly, lost.

Giuliani pretty much killed off every last vestige of those memories. Everything in NYC now geared towards an antiseptic and bland mall crowd.

Bloomberg continues to kill it. Its becoming every city, USA. Boring. Quite sad. A lot of the culture in the city is disappearing in exchange fora dollar.

No idea where the picture was taken. I know I took it off of google images though.

I'll watch that style wars thing too...

And I would leave the inside of the train clean as well, just leave the outside to the people.

I'm too young to remember the days when grafitti pieces that large and good were common on trains, but I have seen some peices that made me do a doubletake in mags and things of that nature.
Lazy B your right it is all about the dollar.
If an artist put up money they'd be on it in a heartbeat.
Have you seen the way they use the bottoms of the exterior of certain trains for ads now?
Or the Grand Central/Times Square Shuttles?

The whole train is an ad, I was dying laughing when I came home and saw that this summer. No one can tell me that's attractive.

Since they wanna raise fares, are brazen enough to do it while they have a surplus (when it went to $2, idk about this last time), and service disruptions aremore common than fully functioning service, why not tag?
