If it started to become a trend then it should be looked at, but it is pretty rare to have one division so bad.....

Shouldn't be done. Won't be done. In a playoff system where it's one game win or go home anything can happen. We only have to look back to 2008 see why it shouldn't happen.

- Arizona won the west at 9-7 and beat an 11-5 Atlanta team in the WC, mollywhopped Carolina the next week IN CAROLINA, beat Philly in the NFC CG on week later, and was a Santonio Holmes big toe away from winning the Super Bowl.
- Also that year San Diego won the AFC west at 8-8 and knocked out a 12-4 Colts team.

As a Rams fan, I am pleased with the current situation. The craziest part to me is the fact that whoever wins this division will HOST an NFL Playoff game. If the season ended today, the Saints would have to go to St. Louis in the first round of the playoffs.

I'm still waiting for a league to do away with all divisions and conferences, and just go 1-16 (for NBA and NHL at least) for the playoffs. Doubt it will ever happen though.

I have no problems with the divisions and all I just feel that division winners shouldn't automatically be hosting a playoff game even if their wild card opponent has a better record. Which will likely be the case this season, GB/Philly/NY/NO could be on the road to face Seattle or St Louis
