NFL Quarterbacks Discussion thread: 2013 Edition

It's like one day Jay wakes up a top 10 QB...

Other days, not so much. :rollin
This is why i don't think as highly of Jay as i used to. Guy will absolutely annihilate the lions and then be trash against the pack. I don't get it, both defenses are nothing to write home about. Its gotta be the blood sugar or something. Im only kidding, kind of. 8o

What you want? An all-time ranking? I have no idea right now, but all I said was at a certain point in the mid to late 90's, there was talk that with continued achievements he would make his case for best ever. That's all.

Off the top of my head without breaking it all down, 6-7ish?

I'm watchin that video you posted, the first two minutes are him talking, another minute calling out plays at the line, then some nice throws, along with a throw that a viking player dropped, which hit his receivers leg, and then ankle, and then head, before he caught it, laying down, TD Favre. :lol

I like the guy, he was certainly fun and entertaining, but I never saw him approaching GOAT status. His MVP's remind me a lot of the Nash MVP's, not that he wasn't great, but that the media loved him and his narrative moreso than how "valuable" he was.

You couldn't prove to me that Favre was more VALUABLE than Reggie White on that roster, but Reggie doesn't get the numbers, or the smiles and jumping around after TD's that Brett does, therefore, one is MVP, the other is merely a HOFer and that's it. I don't put a lot of value in big smiles and high fives with Warren Sapp, etc.

Shred me, go on ahead everyone. :lol

Talk from whom? I remember none of that. Refresh my memory. And if you say John Madden I will kick your throat.

**** man...You want me to go back and research **** from 1997?

I'm talking things I remember from like pregame shows and the sports reporters and **** like that.

Well...:lol

If work gets slow enough...It's Friday!!! These guys know I'm all about my football.

Agreed.  He had the records or he had alot of records well within reach.  He had the MVP's, the longevity aspect (Cal Ripken of football to many in the media), had the Super Bowl ring, combined with the countless number of comebacks, and great moments in NFL history and everything.  There was definitely talk of him being the soon to be GOAT at a point in time.  Just the way his career ended and the manner it did kind brought that statement down.

I have lunch in a couple hours, I'll speak on some stuff I have down. (Aka, spreadsheets :lol ).

Fraij was a fan, but has Rodgers now, maybe he'll have somethin for us.

Exactamundo!

Hey now, relax DSA before Tom impregnates you and leaves you for another man...

Rodgers obviously isn't past Favre in terms of historical significance at the position yet but I'll argue that Rodgers right now is thousand times more efficient QB than Favre ever was.  Favre definitely had a flair for the dramatic which boosted his image in terms of being one of the best QB's.  He always seemed to do something insanely exciting in huge games... Later in his career unfortunately the excitement was reserved for fans of the opposite team late in the season/playoffs.

If you were breaking down all the QB categories you'd be left with a whole lot of "advantage Rodgers" with possibly arm strength (although IMO its a wash) and "excitement" factor going to Favre.
