They only reason Monta Ellis is even in the All-Star discussion is because of Nelson's fast paced offense.
The 26-4-5 line is nice, but inflated by the number of possesions. And even taking into account the fast pace, Monta is a turnover machine. I wonder if anybodyhas ever finished a season with at least 1 turnover in all 82 games? He's got a chance this year.
The starting backcourt of Ellis and Curry makes for exciting offense, but it's a big reason why opponents shoot 48.8 FG% against the Warriors (tops in theleague). You can't guys out of the lane when your PG and SG both go 6-3, 180 (probably generously listed). And 6-2, 175 C.J. Watson backs both of them up.Sure, their Steals numbers all look good from resorting to gambling against bigger perimeter players. It's a recipe for surrendering a high opponent FG%and an uphill battle to win games when you do that.

I'm hoping you've seen the job Monta has done on some of the guards/forwards in the league this season... I'm sure Roy and KD can attest to that.Granted, Salmons just gave him buckets last night with Monta playing some terrible/lazy defense, but he has usually come up solid in his matchups this season.I'd be willing to bet our frontcourt woes have as much of an effect on opponents FG% as our backcourt defensive play. I do have to say though, early in theseason, Steph was giving up bucket after bucket, but he's done a better job recently.

I'm not going to say Monta and Curry are great defenders because they're not, but you also have to take into consideration the Warriorsplayed the majority of the season with both of their centers hurt. It also doesn't help when someone like Corey Maggette is playing the 4.

Steve Nash, Lebron James, and Deron Williams all have at least 1 turnover a game... they are turnover machines. Warriors are 4th in shots pergame, numbers are really inflated.

very well written article. I don't understand why they disassembled that squad from a few years back; that lineup had a bright future.
