NIKE ACG thread

those jackets look pretty nice and i'm definitely in for a shirt. don't really like the perforations on the shoe.

Man them ACG KMTR might go down as one of my top 5 shoe ever. Aesthetic wise I think they are dope as hell. Just recently bought the triple black ones. This will my third pair
yo I straight up love my triple blacks. So damn dope, I don’t wear them enough. I’m gonna be in them all this summer.

I know those jackets are supposed to fit big, but I wish they were smaller sized. Prob going to have to get a XXS in order to make it look right.

I don't suppose you have any info on this 90's inspired second ACG drop? In the UK the first ACG drop is June 1st, but I've not heard or seen anything about the 90's inspired second drop as of yet. Thanks.

BEHIND THE DESIGN
ACG RUCKEL RIDGE

SU18_SNKRS_GLB_ACG_RUCKEL_BTD_PL_Thread_Des.jpg

Nike’s All Conditions Gear has long helped equip bodies across the globe for outdoor activity and exploration. Activity and exploration that requires you to be ready for whatever; rain, sleet, snow, and all kinds of dirt. Nearly three decades since its inception, ACG now takes the idea of “All Conditions Gear” to the next level with the ACG Ruckel Ridge, a boot like silhouette built for treks from manmade surroundings to the great outdoors. Designed by longtime Nike Footwear Designers Tinker Hatfield and Aaron Cooper, the shoe was born from personal insight gathered from Cooper's own excursions. “For many years, I rode (cycling) road and trail but always wanted a more hybridized experience. One of the fastest growing trends in cycling is taking an old mountain set-up and turning it into a 'touring' bike,” he explained. “I found a similar opportunity with running. Something you can run with through the city AND take up into the mountains.”

SU18_SNKRS_GLB_ACG_RUCKEL_BTD_OUTSOLE_Thread_Des.jpg

The inspiration didn’t end there for Cooper. On a hike in Glacier National Park, he took notice of mountain goats trekking along vertical rock walls with ease. “It reminded me of the Goat Tech trail running shoe we did back in the mid-90s,” Cooper shared. “Funny enough, I found out I work right next to one of the minds behind the design, Tobie Hatfield. He told me about its history and I continued to learn more about mountain goats online. One of the reasons they can trek hundreds of miles is the soft inner sole of their hoof – and one of the reasons they can walk across vertical rock is because of the hard perimeter of their hoof.” As you’d imagine, this insight inspired the innovation behind the Ruckel Ridge’s multi-density and hybrid traction performance outsole. A soft sticky rubber makes up the inner surface for traction on wet & dry surfaces and to deliver dynamic comfort. The rubber surrounding that is described as a “High-performance road running formula.” At the outer-most perimeter, Cooper and the team equipped the outsole with a “cleat” rubber that works in combination with a multi-density sock liner and midsole with reinforced sidewalls to mimic the mountain goat abilities that allow you to trek across the city and climb mountainous terrains.

The work down below didn’t end at the outsole. There are additional materials between the multi-density outsole and dual-density midsole that act as a “Dynamic Debris Guard.” While most hiking footwear incorporates materials to protect your feet from bruising, this also creates a barrier that restricts ground sensitivity. Cooper and the team did not want to settle for that. “We set out to do both; Allow for that essential communication between the ground and your foot, while also protecting you from potential bruising. We found that the combination of a material originally invented for the Air Foamposite and a rate-sensitive, stretchable, high shock-absorbing foam creates a layer of protection without compromise.”

SU18_SNKRS_GLB_ACG_RUCKEL_BTD_3Q_Thread_Des.jpg

With the foundation of the shoe established, the team looked to match their efforts with the upper design. While the outsole played on the biomimicry of a mountain goat hoof, the upper was built to create a proprioceptive connection between you and the ground underneath. In other words, mentally connecting you with the shoe. This was accomplished thanks to a specifically developed Flyknit collar and a quick lacing system. “The lacing is simple and does create a secure closure, but what you don’t realize at first glance is it connects directly with a 'quad-axial' woven material to create a containment system for your feet," Cooper explained. Instead of trying to “Lock your foot down,” the team set out to contain the foot while allowing it to perform naturally. Additionally, the Flyknit collar works to keep out debris on your treks. Blending inspiration from hybrid cycles and mountain goats with athlete insights, the shoe presents a combination of giving athletes what they want and more. A shoe that not only meets their needs in the great outdoors but also in their everyday city life. As Aaron Cooper simply puts it, “The ACG Ruckel Ridge is an extension of your natural anatomy amplified with the biomimicry of a mountain goat.”

BEHIND THE DESIGN
ACG DOG MOUNTAIN

SU18_SNKRS_GLB_ACG_DOG-MT_BTD_DIRT_1186_MEDIAL_Thread_Des.jpg

While being constructed and designed for serious activity, Nike’s original ACG product was designed to be as playful as it gets. Vibrant tones, active patterns and striking logos were utilized throughout. Although it has been a while since ACG was originally introduced, the original design insight and playfulness hasn't changed a bit. The new ACG Dog Mountain is a perfect example; a new innovative design that is built for outdoor use while still keeping it casual with a laid back silhouette, vibrant tones and eye-catching details.

SU18_SNKRS_GLB_ACG_DOG-MT_BTD_3Q_Thread_Des.jpg

Led by Aaron Cooper, the design was born from the mind of Tinker Hatfield. While being designed by the pioneers that paved the way for plenty, the team behind the Dog Mountain knew they could not take themselves too seriously. “We’re dead serious about the product and what we believe it can do for the athletes wearing it, but we don't want to be too serious about ourselves. That infusion of fun was super important, ” Cooper expressed as he reflected on the early stages of the design.

SU18_SNKRS_GLB_ACG_DOG-MT_BTD_OUTSOLE_Thread_Des.jpg

The elements of play are seen all through the ACG Dog Mountain’s thoughtful design, including the rugged outsole with reverse branding. An active hiker himself, Cooper would always find himself wondering what shoes other hikers wore based on the footprints he’d see left on the trails. “The reverse branding came from when I was out hiking. Sometimes you're just grinding it out and to keep me busy, I look at the footprints that are already on the ground from people that came before me,” he explained. “So, the reason why the branding is flipped, is so that when you walk and you leave this imprint in the dirt, it'll be right side up, so you'll be able to read it.”

SU18_SNKRS_GLB_ACG_DOG-MT_BTD_TONGUE_Thread_Des.jpg

Arguably the design’s most playful element is its colors inspired by spring flowers in Oregon's Columbia Gorge and reminiscent of original ACG product. Vibrant tones draw your attention to further detail in the playful design. These details include laces and a Swoosh design inspired by climbing rope. “The laces come from climbing rope, and then I was also thinking if you could take that into a flat material, what would that look like? That's where the Swoosh material came from.” The innovative thinking behind the laces didn’t end there for Cooper. The upper eyelet is engineered to keep your laces tight with the help of rubber grommets. “The idea was they pull easily through one way, but they're harder to pull the other way, so it helps you keep your laces tied, and also helps if you want to wear the shoe without tying your laces." In the end, the goal of keeping it “playful” was met in more ways than one by the team. From the reverse branding, to the vibrant tones, ingenious details and beneficial elements, the 2018 ACG Dog Mountain will keep the essence of All Conditions Gear alive for years to come.

I like the wild horses and kigers for hiking. Those acg boots look like a disaster to me.

Dog Mountains are cool but theyre trying too hard with those colors. Teal orange pink and pruple. We get it. You want dudes to wear skirts and makeup.

Can we go back to the way things were please?

thise kigers look pretty good! i went hiking one day with revaderchis and felt like i was on ice skates :lol had some lunar elite trails that i used on the big island and they got destroyed on the sharp lava rock. i’ve been eyeing up an older pair of lunar incognitos on a japanese site but i’m afraid they wouldn’t actually be good for real hiking.

I was so close to picking up the incognitos a few years back before I got the wildhorse 3s. I ended up getting the Goretex lined wildhorses and have loved using them. I'm still curious about the incognitos though. Which site has them?

Ruckle Ridge aren't water proof are they? I assume not based on the materials but just wanted to make sure.

does the clothing drop the same time as the shoes? i’m way outta the loop but snkrs is showing 4am friday for me and i’m unsure if i wanna wake up to buy a t-shirt. i doubt they’ll sell out.

i also think i need something i can trek through water and mud with. i brought some nice terra humaras with me this weekend but when i saw the terrain, i threw on some ugly roshes that i was gonna give away. had to carry my son when i took a wrong turn at the beginning of our hike. mud went past our knees because i didn’t listen to my wife :lol

Both New and Old inspired ACG lines are now showing on Nike UK today, Only issue is not all the colorways are showing for each item, I.E only 2 colors of the shorts and jackets not the four I saw in the advert pics. Also Price wise I'm liking what I see on the 90s inspired gear.

Personally, I'm not going to chance it on the gear. I expect it to sell out quickly. I hope I'm wrong, and they go on heavy discount.

def gonna try to grab one of the ACG hats in the collection when they drop.
