Nike Equalon? High end stability running shoes?

So I wore the Air Kantara for about 5 years.  It was Nike's high end stability shoe but they discontinue them years ago.  They introduced the Equalon to take its place and they are currently on the 4th version (Equalon 4).   They were released last year and sold well (I guess) because I couldn't find a pair.  Now recently I saw that they were restocked on sites like Eastbay and Foot Locker.  What is the future of Nike high end stability?  Are they making an Equalon 5? Or are they doing away with it altogether and coming up with something new?

I like the Structure Triax and they will continue to make new versions of those but they can't seem to stick to a high end stability model that they will renew every year.  I was close to jumping ship and copping a pair of Asics before I finally found a pair at a store near me that had my size.

So if anyone have any info on the Equalon's future....

been wanting to ask this question, sorry if im off topic...

aren't stability shoes recommended for overpronators?
What would happen if i am overpronator and i continued using a neutral shoe? What injuries can i get?

This sucks.   I will probably have to shell out and get another pair of them put them in the closet.

Now, I will admit I haven't tried the LunarEclipse but they're not even listed as a "stability" shoe on the Nike website.  They're listed as 'dynamic' support.  It sucks because they are doing away with the Equalon to push the these Lunar models.  They really need stick with a traditional style.

I have a high arch so there is a lot of weight on the inside of my foot when I run.  With the last model I ran in, the Air Kantara, they really made a difference as opposed to the regular Air Max models.  I wouldn't say you will suffer any injuries running with a neutral shoe, but with a stability shoe your feet will just feel more comfortable and ache less after you run.

The Equalon 4 has been great so far.  A lot of stability and a lot of cushioning.

^ The only "traditional runners" I've run in were the Vomero4s, and the Eclipses feel very similar to them. However, they're definitely lighter.

IMO, Eclipses are a GREAT shoe for logging long mileage (+13M). I've also read (via RWH) that Eclipses are primarily for mild-to-high overpronators, but I'm a supinator with a neutral arch, and they work well for me.

I have not seen any news for the release of an Equalon 5, but the Equalons are the highest ranked "stability" running shoe from Nike if you don't want to cross over to Motion Control to the Zoom Nucleus which only specific running stores will carry. As with Nike replacing the Equalon with the LunarEclipse as its successor I would highly doubt that because the LunarEclipse are not even considered a high end stability shoe from other hard runners. Most and myself consider it a "Light Stability" shoe and is more along the lines of the Structure Triax.

Stability shoes are recommended for Overpronators, the Bowerman series (Pegasus, Vomero, Max Moto) are made for Moderate Under pronation to Moderate Over pronation. As long as you don't have excessive pronation you will be fine running in Neutral shoes if its in the Bowerman. series. Also, if you have a HIGH arch, its recommended to wear a cushioning shoe. Which is the Pegasus, Vomero, Air Max Motos, etc. LOW arches tend to over pronate, so stability shoes are it. Flat arches tend to over pronate excessively so motion control shoes are for them.

Well the fact that they were restocked at online stores is promising. I don't think they have a hard time pushing them because they were sold out at most stores I visited and I didn't hear of any outlets getting them.

Personally, I have not seen any stores or outlets get a FSR of Equalons, the only places I have seen them are specific running stores. Not even department stores like Sports Authority or Sport Chalet have I seen them at. But for Nike the Equalon is the highest end stability shoe out for them right now. So if you would like to if you see pairs going for under $100, I would definitely stock up to 2-3 pairs of them if you want to keep them underwraps. I wouldn't want to risk it either if they are going to be discontinued.

Yea, I'm going to have to probably do that.  I searched 10 stores in my area before finding them.  I could have gotten them online but I wanted to try them on first.  It just sucks that they might be getting out of that high end stability market.  The only comparable stability shoe are the Asics 2160 but because of the price point it might be closer to the Structure Triax.

The Equalons are the best stability running shoe Nike has put out. I've bottomed out my first pair and in need of another.

The Asics 2160s are the Structure triax. For the Equalon it would be the Asics Kayanos. But if you want the most support from Asics it would be the Gel Evolution. Although, if you want the best of the best maximum support the Brooks Beast are ones that cannot be beat. They aren't the lightest in the world, but the support it provides are not comparable to any other brand.

The Kayanos are an amazing shoe. I ran in the 13s and 14s. I tend to see running brands ranked as Asics, New Balance, and then Nike. Although I do see Nike getting better reputation from runners in the last 2 years. especially with their Lunar series and Free series.
