Is the stiffness with the heel cup the same on the suede as compare to the leather mercurials? If so, that would just be another reason to make me pick up those obsidians and figure out a way to get rid of my blacks

The suede heel cup on these new wolfgrey/obsidian rereleases is not as stiff as the OG release. Plus im assuming that suede would loosen up faster than that leather heel cup

Just keep on wearing them. I had the same problem as you and eventually the heel collar loosened up and my achilles got used to the pull tab.
