Nike Ja 3

Pretty simple. They’re basically in Nike HQ’s backyard and can use them as a guinea pig, and Phil Knight’s alma mater.
That's all common knowledge. My question is more along the lines with the unlimited amount of resources Oregon has at it's disposal, how in the world is their claim to fame (in terms of college athletics), track and field and volleyball titles? I think y'all are missing the point. These folks got LA Dodger money, but they out here performing like the New York Mets.

And Oregon wasn't the first school who completely outfitted their entire athletics department in Nike.

I mean Phil is a huge donor (has donated over one billion) and it’s been common knowledge Nike use them to test to product and what not.

Also, I think I’d argue that winning an NCAA Championship now is harder than winning professionally, with all of the many variables at play (especially now) and the sheer number of teams competing for a national title.

A lot of teams have boosters and alumni with money.

They've had better football coaches than basketballs, as showed by their football coaches getting other jobs.

Plus it's still Oregon. Which is why Oregon isn't a favorite for Tyran Stokes, even though he's with Nike. You're still going to see them a limited amount of times and why Cam Boozer got more attention than AJ Dybantsa in Utah.

The second part of your statement is true from your perspective and mine. Nike rules college athletics, that's a given. So R&D and PEs are conducted at his alma mater. Nothing wrong with that either. But when is he going to get some ROI? You can wow these kids all you want to with PEs and uniform combos, but NIL money is what they want now and kids were even transferring left and right to Adidas schools for the right price. Look at the CFP national title game, 2 Adidas schools. Oregon is backed by a billionaire. Texas Tech and Texas A&M are backed by billionaires.

I'll give you an example. Oregon will always be synonymous with Nike. They don't need the CFP revenue payout when they get to the playoffs because of who they are. Plus they have to split that money with 25 other teams in the B1G. You bring in Lanning, great. But what's the ultimate goal here? Bring Oregon a national title in the NCAAs most profitable sport. They've got nothing.

SMU is a Nike school. Them folks turned down ACC TV money to join the ACC for like 9 years, because they got oil money like that. Not 1 billionaire. Multiple billionaires.

I mean they’ve been in the college playoffs how many years now. It’s not as if they’re not trying to get to that goal. NIL drastically has changed everything. SEC has been struggling since NIL. Indiana isn’t going anywhere with the numerbillionaire donors they tote now.

lol Yea but not the next few years. They still have the top donors in the country now though.

Feels like the whole discourse was just so he could say that in the end which isn’t really true

A top 10 football team every year is trash?

Ok, conversation over...
And that’s fine. Can’t stand Ohio State, but they’re valid. Same with UGA. Im not putting Oregon down there with Rice or Oregon St., but if the goal is titles, they’re just a top 10 team. Breakthrough like Indiana and they’re legit as well.

Could say that about the majority of top 25 schools. Again, you’re saying this to get your shot off at Oregon.

Moving on..

Oregon got more costume changes than national championships in anything. I will never understand it.
Lol so you gotta win championships to have PE’s? Dont recall JA, Dbook, PG, Luka, Cade, Brunson, Caitlyn clark winning chips. Yall diss oregon but your favorite teams copy them. Matte helmets, chrome helmets, carbon fiber helmets, black unis, alt themed unis and shoes.

Interesting assumption. But please do continue to assume my favorite team copies what Oregon does because you don't know who my CFB squad is. Nice gear, but I'm positive Lanning would rather have the ultimate title instead of getting smoked by a team that never won it either.

Regarding the PEs, they are what they are and in the past they were a recruiting tool. NIL kinda leveled the playing field and they aren't they end all be all for recruits.

I didn't watch Brunson at Villanova win national POY or 2 national titles? I'll catch heat for all this, but again, you guys have valid points and so do I. All it is, is a difference of opinion.

Went kinda crazy today lol. Had to. No more shoes for me this month.
