Im on the lookout for a new running shoe and I've heard that Nike's LunarLite sole is really comfortable... Problem is that Nike is releasing a new shoe with the LunarLite sole like every week... I need some help deciding which is the best one to get... For those of u who own a Lunar______, can u rate the shoe on the following criteria (Out of 10)....

-Comfort
-Weight (10 being lightest)
- Durability
- Support
- Response
- Traction

If there is already a thread on this, please point me in the right direction... Thanks!

Ok here's the list off the top of my head:

Lunar Trainer (it's not actually a training shoe)
Lunar Racer
Lunar Racer II
Lunar Glide
Lunarfly
Lunarswift
Run Avant

These are the Lunar running shoes that have been released up until now (i might be missing some)

Be careful with the Lunarlite sole. If I'm correct, the original Lunar Trainer and Racer had the Lunar foam which broke down eventually, whereas the new "Lunarlite" system is a phylite? core housed in a phylon carrier. This makes it more durable.

I personally have never used these shoes, I had a pair of the Run Avants but sold them on ebay. They're all great shoes though. Personally, I like to use training shoes for running and the Nike Free series is great.

Sup Mitchell,

I have a four pair running rotation, and three of them are Lunars (Trainers / Racers / Glides). Here are my ratings of your criteria.

LunarGlide
Comfort: 9
Weight: 8
Durability: 9
Support: 10
Response: 8
Traction: 8

LunarTrainer
Comfort: 9
Weight 9
Durability: 8
Support: 8
Response: 10
Traction: 9

Lunaracer
Comfort: 7
Weight: 10
Durability: 7
Support: 6
Response: 8
Traction: 8

- If you plan to do speedwork, Lunaracers would be a good choice because they are the lightest, but they provide the least comfort.

- If you plan on running long distances, LunarGlides would do the job becuase of their comfort and support, but they're the "heaviest" amongst these three.

- If you want a combo of both speed and distance, LunarTrainer would be the go-to shoe because they're the most balanced runner that are lightweight and provide good comfort. However, keep in mind that the Lunar foam on them will bottom out. I think I maxed out my first pair at ~500-550.

Yeah, trolls don't have time to wear shoes.

Anyways, the only "Lunar" series shoe I could honestly recommend would be the Lunarglide. Compared to the Nike Free however, I wouldn't recommend them at all. The Free is the best SHOE on the market right now due to how it encourages forefoot striking. Any reason in particular besides what you "heard" for why you want Lunar shoes?

I own a pair of LunarSwift, which are a little cheaper than some of the other Lunar-series shoes but they're still pretty nice to run in:

-Comfort: 8
-Weight (10 being lightest): 7
- Durability: Only had them a month, but I run 15 miles per week and they're holding up nice
- Support: 7
- Response: 9 (bouncy, but firm off the ground)
- Traction: 8

I'm really satisfied with them, though I'm not all that picky; so take this for what you will. These are the first pair of Nikes I've own that weren't Air-cushioned. After wearing these I still say Air is way more cushy and comfortable, but I think the lunar foam is better suited to running because there's a different (I would argue better) bounce to it.  I'd be reluctant to try a Lunar-cushioned basketball shoe. Maybe in the forefoot only.

I'd recommend the LunarSwift if you aren't sure because, like I said, it's a little bit less expensive.

Hope that helps a little.

which lunar shoe wont bottom out or will bottom out in the least amount of time?

ive had the lunarglide, lunarfly, and lunareclipse. The lunarfly is average, the lunarglide is pretty good, and the lunareclipse is amazing.
