I'm not defending Nike, but the overall concept of caring about your appearance which ties into wearing Nikes, Adidas, J.Crew, whatever you want to name.Originally Posted by AKA LONGSTROKE

Do you think that Dr. King or Einstein would stand in line for a pair of Nike shoes?
See this is a textbook case of over analyzing. You know in your heart of hearts that its not like that. Do you mean to tell me that you dont feel good when you look nice on a certain day? People can have hobbies and if thats sneakers thats cool, it doenst make them any worse of a person or unable to be great. I wouldnt expect someone who was in the public eye as much as Dr. King was to step outside looking messy, it wouldnt have been good for his platform. In all the pictures I've seen of him even before he got famous (I went to Morehouse College so theres pictures of him everywhere that you wont find online) he was always well put together.
Just cause someone likes to wear nike shoes doesnt mean theyre going to live a life of depravity and underachieving.
In regard to Nike, what does being loyal to that brand do for you in particular? Why do some here feel the need to defend them in such an aggressive manner?
Clothes dont wear me I wear my clothes, stuff doesnt need to be branded for me to think its nice, or for me to feel nice wearing it. I can also step out in something that I dont feel is nice and still feel good about myself, but I would be lying if I said looking nice didnt help, and I dont see a problem with that. I wear what I like, and when I feel that I look nice, I feel better about myself to an extent. I feel like that would be the same for most people.
People have good reason to defend it, people are very judgemental when it comes to stuff like this and I for one think its pretty hypocritical, so I can see why people get up in arms about it. Its no skin off my nose really but you said you wanted to have a real discussion about it and I'm trying to give it to you.
