How'd I know I'd get few traitor comments? It's funny, because when I was approached to help out with the issue, that thought ran through my headas well. I literally went back and forth with the idea. It was mainly because I've been affiliated with Nike Talk since the beginning and we've alwayshad this ongoing rivalry with the ISS/SC crew.
For those wondering why I chose to do it. Well, it's simple. I didn't do it for SC, but I didn't do it for Nike Talk either. I did itfor me. I won't be into Jordans forever, and to have an opportunity to be featured in a magazine was worth it to me. It'll be cool to show my kids oneday and to show people that this little hobby of mine wasn't just a phase after all. It's been a HUGE part of my life. I've met alot of greatpeople along the way, and have a ton of great stories to tell.
I was originally contacted by Billy Hoyle to help them out with a bunch of Jordans they needed for the Air Jordan retrospective. I don't think I would havedone it if it was just the shoes they featured, but when I was offered to be featured in the Focus Collector piece I decided I might as well do it. On top ofthat I was given some free kicks including my own "ijapino" lasered Jordans, and a bunch of the issues. I got to hang out with a few of the SC crewwhile they took pictures of my shoes the whole day. Most of the shoe boxes they shot for the mag are mine, all the retro cards are mine and most of the shoesfrom 2005 on up in the retrospective section are mine as well.
I know some of you wouldn't dare to have their face featured in SC, but I didn't look at it that way. Regardless of what you think of the"other" site and their mag, it's still bringing shoe heads together in a different way. That I can respect. Most everybody knows the historybetween the two sites and almost everybody has chosen a side. Don't worry though....My side IS and will ALWAYS be NikeTalk. PERIOD.
