that's not entirely fair, challenge cars are track cars....in terms of street cars, i don't see how you could criticize the cs orscuderia. cs is anything but soft, scuderia feels tamer in normal driving but is also a monster on the track. i assume youve driven the cs?Originally Posted by curt2121
I know this won't be popular on NT, but i truly don't think ferrari has made a legitimately beautiful car in far too many years. The f40 is the last that I think and even it is somewhat debatable (although only somewhat). Remembering the ferraris my father had when I was really young (before his business affairs and my own driving nudged us toward the McLaren group) and looking back, there is a strong history of absolutely stunning cars. But anymore, it has lost the true passion and succumbed to the business model and put out the overproduced 355/360/430 garbage. Unless you're getting a 360 challenge/gt/gt-c (no, a challenge stradale does NOT count) or a 430 challenge/gt2/gt3 to go weekend racing, there isn't a point. Rappers and entertainers try to use them as status symbols, but that's nothing more than a bastardization of what the cars are menat to be. It's caging the ferociousness of the animal and subduing the passion and purpose of what a ferrari should be. Granted, it is too early to say how the more recent cars that I so despise will be viewed in the long term, bu I just don't see them having the long term appeal of some of the stunning classics the scuderia has put out over the years. Personally, I'd take aston's history over ferrari's. Not saying it's BETTER cause I don't want to get into a pointless debate like that, but I strongly prefer it.
mass-production may 'water down' the main lineup somewhat, but with cars like the enzo, scuderia, the fxx program, etc. there have been plenty ofperformance oriented models produced as well.
and with the california being produced, it seems that the next derivation of the 355/360/430 lineup will be more performance oriented. combine that withferrari's goals of lighter cars, turbo/awd/hybrid tech , etc. and i'd say the future is looking pretty interesting as well.
aston's street cars are pathetic, imo. same (admittedly elegant) design, same embarassing performance.
mclaren = what exactly? f1, p11 (not yet of course), that's it as far as i know? and of course benz slr but i'm sure you don't mean that. unlessyou drive f1 cars?
as far as styling...i agree somewhat. i find the 355/360/430 to be attractive cars but not exotic enough, not ferrari enough when compared to older models. thescuderia and cs look a little better but of course they still are more or less the same. the enzo, imo, is a great looking car but its got some awkwardproportions and as many critics as fans so i can see why someone wouldnt like it. the f50 was pretty hideous imo. honestly appearance-wise the 512tr (somethingabout it, i dunno) and the f40 are my fav modern f-cars.
