Nt College Heads Help me Out

Can anyone tell me the Difference between a Subsidized and Unsubsidized student loan, my college is now offering them when You accept Financial Aid and I dontknow the diff. I tried googling it and it still ain't make no sense. Any help is appreciated thanks in Advance

Subsidized = Virtually no interest.

Unsubsidized = Tons of interest.

•Subsidized loans are awarded based on financial need. You will not be charged interest before you begin repayment or during periods of deferment. The federalgovernment "subsidizes" (or pays) the interest during these times.

•Unsubsidized loans are not awarded based on financial needs. Any eligible student can take out Unsubsidized Stafford Loans. You will be charged interest fromthe time the loan is disbursed, to the time the loan is repaid in full.

Subsidized means the government will pay the interest for you until you graduate (plus 6 month grace period, at least for me). Subsidized is based off offinancial need. Unsubsidized loans incur interest from the first day and compound (meaning the interest will get interest). You don't have to start payinguntil after you graduate but you should pay the interest on these in the meantime b/c the interest is a %%#+! and a half.
