does anybody know anything I can buy to make my wifi way faster? my modem is in my mothers room which is 2 floors above me (my room is the basement) and mymacbook isn't really that fast, and neither is my ps3, so i can never play online. does anybody know what i can buy/hookup to the modem or whatever to makemy wifi faster/stronger?

Since you appear to be a fan of Apple, you can buy an Airport Extreme.

It'll boost your wifi.

You can build a signal reflector to place next to the router. It's U shaped so it deflects most of the signal to the computer/PS3

build out of aluminum etc. can't think of the exact name for it

would it boost my downloads a whole lot? at my aunts house (on her linksys) it took me 1 hour to download jay-z's discography (2 gb), at my house estimatedtime was 3 days -_-

The aluminum thing will work. It probably won't boost the speed a whole lot, but it will boost the range.

So if it's slow because of connectivity, you'll notice that it's faster. If your internet is slow to begin with,

OP how many bars of connectivity do you get on your computer?

extending your network and boosting the speed of your network is a good idea but make sure that you don't have a lot of Electromagnetic Interferences.Because if you do have a lot of wireless devices around the house. Extending the network using such devices may not help. Having thick walls and large body ofwater (eg. large aquariums) around the house can cause interferences as well. Make sure the router is in the place that it can transmit and receive wirelesssignal freely, like in the higher place of your house. Placing it under the table is a no go.

see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetic_interference
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetic_interference_at_2.4_GHz

Electromagnetic interference (or EMI, also called radio frequency interference or RFI) is a disturbance that affects an electrical circuit due to eitherelectromagnetic conduction or electromagnetic radiation emitted from an external source. [1] The disturbance may interrupt, obstruct, or otherwise degrade orlimit the effective performance of the circuit. The source may be any object, artificial or natural, that carries rapidly changing electrical currents, such asan electrical circuit, the Sun or the Northern Lights.
