What's the benefit to using both pro tools and reason?
personally i hate to make beats IN pro tools. i look at pro tools specifically as an engineering tool. some people actually make the beat inside of pro tools  but DAWS are better at that. reason is a DAW that u can mix in but clearly pro tools is better at that. so using both will essentially give u the best of both worlds.

Pretty much what @TEKtheMAESTRO  said. However, you can use Reason as a VST in Pro tools and use the synths and sequencers. You have the advantage of both midi and audio when you use both.

What's everyone's rig??

Mine:

Producing-
MacBook Pro
Maschine MK1
Pro Tools 9HD
Reason 5
Beyerdynamic DT990

Other-
Gibson Flying V w/ EMG 81/85 Pickups
Peavey 5150 combo
Dunlop Hendrix Wah
Radial Tonebone Hot British Pedal
And a nylon classical guitar lol

How are those Beyerdynamics?
Only thing I have right now is a laptop, mouse, with some Seen headphones. :lol Future setup I'm striving for is a MacBook, Logic, Maschine, some beyerdynamics, & some type of usb keyboard. Also where can I hear your music?

Them buyers are fiyyah! Lol they're open design so it balances everything out. If you get a macbook, get a 15" with a fair amount of ram. Maybe eBay. Never heard of them headphones. If you don't want to spend too much on em, look into Sennheiser HD 201. Best bang for your buck. nice, an MK2 or Maschine studio? Yeah I need to get me a piano keyboard too. Nothing uploaded man. I start a lot of songs and I never finish them. My biggest problem for years now lol. Do you have any music up?

My bad for the late *** reply. The plan is def to get a MacBook with a 15in display, I've also thought about a mac mini too but I think just a laptop + monitor will be fine. Also I meant Sennheiser :lol I have Senn HD280s right now only downside is they can push on the top portion of your ears and it may be discomforting. I was looking into a Maschine Studio, seen some pretty dope videos of them being used & I just think they look cool as hell. :lol

If you are on the desktop version of NT just click the link in my signature for my soundcloud. Really just upload rap instrumentals right now but I'm going to change up my style a lot more soon.

If anyones interested in sound engineering this is a good video to watch:

dang man your mixing and mastering is on point holy **** that is clean nicely done

I like that joint Gee!

YRWB I like the beat but I think your 808 needs a little work, either way keep working man.

Uploaded these a lil while ago, didn't post or nothing though.

Random thought: Sometimes I wonder if what I do is too left field or non "professional/indusrty" sounding and think if I will ever find any good work doing this music thing yo. Hope I can find a career in audio engineering, really like shaping/sculpting sound.

To be honest, there will always be a need for new innovation in the music industry. Your not going to hear the same ol sounds forever. I hear it all the time in hip hop. Example, Lex lugar beats. When his style of music started to pop off, you heard it a lot more because it was something different. Now listen to how that sound has evolved. Lex is still Lex but there are other producers out there that have took that sound and made it their own. Then someone is going to come along and take the new sound and evolve it again and it will go on and on.
